There are 900 Battle Trophies in all (100 per character) that each have specific requirements needed to unlock. Getting them all is extremely time consuming, and many people do not have a full 1000/1000 due to this very fact. If you want to get them all, be prepared to do an excessive amount of grinding.

There is no 100% full guide, but the two I linked before I started listing the BTs are pretty good.

To give you guys an example of the sheer amount of time it takes for some trophies, imagine this:

Edge and Arumat each have a 30,000 kill trophy, both requiring you to be on that character as they get the killing blow. If you were to get 1000 kills per day (probably not), this would take you 2 months. That's if you actually took the time each day to farm 1000 kills.

Reading the forums and helping people where I could I’ve found myself rewriting the same information or linking to several scattered threads where I’ve posted before. I’m already contributing this to what is likely the best guide on Gamefaqs right now, but I thought I would consolidate all my advice into one thread for the ease of the players on this forum. It’s my hope that at least a few of you find this useful.

This is the ability to reforge your equipment to improve it or simply make it stronger. It is easily the most useful tool and the most powerful weapon you will use in this game, however before you can seriously think about it you need to work on inventing items.

I’m not going to go in depth on how to invent or who makes what, but I can tell you that there are only 120 possible combinations of inventors, so you can simply do them all and invent every item. The task is a tedious one if you haven’t gotten started on it (and you will lose out on 29 combinations if you wait too long) but it is very easy and more than worth it. Please note that the game’s best items MUST be made this way and cannot be bought at all, so slacking off here only hurts you.

Now then, assuming you’ve invented some good items (or at the very least found a place to buy some decent ones) you’re almost ready to start. When you do Synthesis right you will make extremely powerful items worth many times more than you paid for the materials, and when you do it wrong you will have wasted time and possibly difficult to replace items. The first thing you need to do is Save before you begin, and thankfully there is a Save Point a few yards away from the item creation room on the Calnus. Saving before hand lets you experiment with what you make, and if you make a mistake or aren’t happy with what you make you can always just reload to before you tried.

Synthesis can improve upon any of the four equipment types, Weapons, Armor, Neck Accessories, and Wrist Accessories, allowing you to use four augmented items at once. You can change the item’s basic stats and elemental resistances, but that’s only the icing on the cake. The real magic comes from Factors. A Factor is a latent ability the item has and is highlighted in a yellow box when the item you’re viewing is selected. Things like “Hit +2” and “Shoots balls of light when attacking” are Factors. All items can have a maximum of four.

The best way to show where to go from with that is through an example:

Suppose you have four amulets that each grant immunity to a different thing. You have an anti-silence, an anti-paralysis, an anti-fog, and an anti-frozen amulet. Normally you would need to pick between them before a battle if you wanted protection from one of those effects, and if the monsters could inflict multiple effects on you then you were simply out of luck. But no worries, Synthesis has your back. Each of those Accessories has one Factor which grants immunity to one thing, but you can combine those items through synthesis so that all four immunities are carried on one amulet. Now you have an item that protects against just about all of the most dangerous of the game’s stat effects, and to top it off the process costs you nothing.

Remember that whichever amulet you use for the Base Item the first time is the one you should use as a Base the next two times, this conserves all the boosts to the items basic stats and elemental resistances. The Base Item is the item you start your synthesis with, it is the first you select to begin the process. The second item you choose augments the Base Item and disappears at the end of the synthesis, leaving only the enhanced Base Item.

Now, why did that work? When you combine two items of the same type, such as the Neck Accessories in the example, any Factors on the items smoothly combine with no change. However, if you try to combine items of different types, like a weapon with a piece of armor, the effects can be altered. A Factor that is offensive on a weapon, like “Shoots balls of light when attacking”, might be changed to a defensive Factor like “Shoots balls of light when guarding”. In other cases, like an Attack + Factor being added to armor, the Factor will disappear entirely and you’ll have wasted an item. Before you Synth an item the menu on the right will show you what your new item will be like, always pay attention to this so that you don’t make a mistake. Fortunately you’ve already been instructed to save so even mishaps like that shouldn’t cause too much trouble.

Experiment

The game has many items, from food to usables to weapons, accessories, and armor, and while only the last three can work as Base Items all of these can be used in Synthesis. Because there are so many items it would take too long to list the specific effects of each one on each of the four types of equipment, so I won’t be providing that information here. I leave it to you to find the Factors you like and think are helpful, and then to combine them to the best of your ability. What I can give you though are a few tips, hints, and ideas.

Tip – Every item has a Synthesis limit. This is the number of times that item can be used as a Base Item. But after you’ve added all four Factors and can’t add anymore, what else is there? The basic stats of the item, such as Attack, Defense, Hit, Guard, and Intelligence. By using various items you can raise these stats on the item to further give you a boost. On weapons and armor this is straight forward. For example, the Laser Blade has 900 Attack stock, and a synth limit of 16. After adding four factors there are still 12 synths left. You could leave the weapon as is, or you continue to synth it to raise one of the stats, like attack. Using other weapons will yield the best results, and (generally) the better the weapon the better the results. Some weapons can raise the attack by more than 80 points with every synthesis, meaning that after all 12 you’ll have raise the blade’s attack my at least 960 if you used that kind of weapon that many times, for a new total of 1860 (not counting whatever your Factors do).

You can do similar things with armor and accessories. Different kinds of items give you different results and raise different stats, so again experiment to see what works for you. But now I see a question forming in your mind, “But Dreaded, where am I going to get 12 of the same item to use over and over in Synthesis?” It’s a good question. You’re going to make it in item creation. As I said before, the best items are those you make, and they are doubly important in Synthesis because after using one you can make another. Many of the items you buy in stores can be made cheaply and you can make items you’ll never see in stores. Another reason this is important is because you never want to synth an item that is one of a kind, because you’ll have lost out on something irreplaceable. If you can’t make very good items in Synthesis because you did not take my advice and haven’t invented much you can always just buy the best stuff you can get your hands on, but honestly you’ll be wasting your money and losing out on the benefits of the better items you could just make.

Hint –  I hope you haven't been using up your stat boosting seeds (Attack Seeds, Defense Seeds, Health Seeds, etc.) because they are incredible in Synthesis. Likewise, I hope you haven't been using regular seeds in your synthing because the Potent versions are far and away better. Potent Attack Seeds, when added to your weapon, give you +18% Attack power each. You can add four, for a staggering +72% Attack, this dramatically raises the damage you do. As you might guess you can do the same with your armor, except Potent Defense Seeds add 20% for a total of +80% if you use 4, I would not use those though. Why? Because you could use Potent Health Seeds to give yourself +20% Health each, +80% with four, and at level 80 that should bring your health up to between 60k and 70k by itself. If you have the HP battle skill maxed out (+10,000 HP at level 10) your health will be closer to 80k.

You can “find” Potent Seeds, but they are astronomically rare. As an alternative you can make them in item creation, and nowhere is my advice about inventing everything you can more relevant than it is right here. In order to create Potent Seeds after inventing them you will need two of any kind of Seed and a specific kind of Vase (there are other ingredients but they cannot be made and can easily be bought or farmed). For the Seeds you will need to refer to the Seed Farming section of the guide, but the Vases are things you must again make in item creation. There are four different types of Vases you will need, each being used to make different Seeds, so make sure to invent this stuff or you cannot attempt this and will not be able to enjoy the vast benefits.

** An “easier” way to get Potent Seeds is to cheat a little. When you have a Bizarre Fruit save before using it. If you do not get what you want, reload and repeat until you do. Eventually you will get the seed you are looking for. **

Post Main-Scenario (after beating the last boss and saving your game)

An Introduction to Duplication

After beating the game and finding the Seven Stars Dungeon you’ll be faced with enemies far above any you met before. Taking these down will require skill and, more than likely, you will need to rely on the vast power of Synthesis. Powerful as this tool is to begin with there is a way to drastically improve its usefulness, and that is with the hidden skill Duplicate, found on the 7^th floor of the Seven Stars dungeon.

“Duplicate” lets you make a perfect copy of nearly any item (key items and skill manuals are on the very short list of things you can’t replicate). The process uses the item Magical Clay to make the copies, and the amount you need can range from 1 to 11 pieces.

I cannot stress enough how useful this is, as you’re able to copy extremely rare items like Seeds, Laser Weapons, and Moonstones, to name a few. The sky is the limit here, as long as your Clay supply doesn’t run dry. But you can run out quickly if you aren’t careful. When you first acquire the skill be sure to level it to 10 immediately, this drops the amount of Clay you need for each copy. Note that Seeds all cost 11 Clay each (both normal and Potent versions cost the same). If you Synthesize something its cost in Clay never changes. In fact, I've found that you can Synthesize something very "expensive" into something very "cheap" and retain the Clay cost of the "cheap" item. To simplify things and show how practical this is I'll use an example. Say I want to Synthesize 4 Potent Attack Seeds into a single weapon, for the combined 72% Attack increase, but I only have 1 potent attack seed. Normally a player would need to farm for more seeds, then make more Potent Seeds in item creation or gather 11 Magical Clays three separate times so you could Duplicate the Potent Seeds three times. You do not have to do either of these.

Instead, Synth the single Potent Attack Seed into a low level weapon with no other Factors. Make sure this weapon only costs 1 Clay to Duplicate. You will wind up with a lone weapon, that STILL costs 1 Clay, but has a +18% Attack Factor on it that would normally cost you 11 Clays. Now, with the 11 Clays you might have used to Duplicate the Seeds once for an extra Factor, you can make 11 copies of that Weapon and outfit your entire party with +72% Attack weapons. This works with any Factor.

One additional tip: When you have an item like a Weapon that you would like to get the most out of you should always Synth all of the factors you want onto a separate weapon first, then Synth that weapon into the one you intend to have those powers. Every item has a limit to the number of times it can be Synthed, so normally if you want 4 factors you need to waste 4 synths. You can instead cheat the system, because by putting the 4 factors in one place you can get all of them on your weapon for the price of only 1 Synth. With the remaining Synths you can use other weapons to further strengthen the attack power. This trick can be used for armor and accessories as well.

Unfortunately, Magical Clay is not found everywhere, and hoarding it can be difficult as few enemies drop them and even then they don’t drop often. To deal with that problem I worked out a way to quickly farm for as many Clays as you would possibly need.

Magical Clay Farming

To get your hands on “Duplicate” you will have to have beaten the game, and that’s part of what makes this trick work. Your ship, the Calnus, should be on Nox Obscurus. Go there and board the ship, save onboard at the first save point, and leave. Head to the teleporter and travel to Centropolis on EN II. As you head towards the shopping district you will notice an Inn on your left and another building on your right (the Transport building). Enter and head to the teleporter at the far end of the room, it will automatically take you to the Santuary. This is where you will get your clay. There are two Mining points in the area, and I’ve always had at least one give up Magical Clay (normally) both.

With your clay found head back to Nox Obscuras and the Calnus, repeat the opening instructions: Board, Save, Leave. Boarding the Calnus resets all the Mining and Harvesting points in the game, giving you the ability to go right back to Sanctuary and get more clay. Doing this you should average 1 Magical Clay every 90 seconds (and 9 SP as well which Is a nice little bonus). In no time you’ll have everything you need. If you ever go to the Sanctuary and neither point offers you the item you need only to reload at the Calnus and try again. This shaves off about a little over a minute that would have been wasted going back to the Calnus anyway.

A note: The Duplicate skill makes the Seed Farming techniques mentioned earlier obsolete; in fact it negates the need for farming all but the rarest items. This tip guide is not 100% complete, because I’ve saved the best for last. I’ve discovered how to Triple the damage you do after gaining 9999 Attack power, and after I’ve perfected it on all my characters I will post it to this guide.

Using these techniques you should be able to beat most of the strongest bosses in the game while only using your favorite character, even if all of the other characters are incapacitated for the entire battle.

I encourage you to use and even perfect my tricks if you can. And if you have your own special tricks please share them with everyone else, I’ve thrown this together so we can all have fun.

Farming Techniques

Party SP (Skill Points)

At the beginning of the game I realized that SP was going to be very important, and that I would need a lot of it, so I came up with a system of farming massive amounts of the stuff. You can do this in Aeos, after beating the first boss. After exiting Urd Falls Cave on the save point side you need to save. Left of the cave entrance you'll notice two bug enemies of the same type (Drus I believe) patrolling very close together. If your board is not clear you should load up at that spot. With your bonus board clear, start a fight with one of the two patrolling enemies when they are both very close, this starts a battle that leads to an ambush and gives you one green bonus chip, good for 1 SP per fight.

After finishing the fight go back into the cave and then come right back out, the monsters will be there again and you can have your ambush again, along with a second shiny green chip. Be sure not to do much with the character in your control so that you don't gain other bonuses along the way. If you're doing well in a few minutes you will have a full board, which is good for 14 SP every single fight, and getting it should at least bag you 105 SP. Reenter the cave and come back out, be sure to save. Now fight every single enemy in the area , working your way to the the beach where you fought the boss (you can now let loose with the character you control, just be sure not to let the enemies hit you with criticals or it's back to building the bonus board for you).  Clear the beach of all enemies and then enter Urd Falls Cave, once there you should kill everything along your path back to the exit with the save right outside.

Now, back where you started this, you should have between 500 and 600 extra SP, and that shouldn't take you more that 20-30 minutes if you're doing well. Save again and continue as long as you like. As you grow stronger the fights will get shorter, be sure to max out the skills for all your characters as soon as you can to make them stronger still (I liked waiting till I had 1000 SP and then using as much as I needed). Sprinting helps cut down on the time this process takes.

This is a trick that can be used all through the game, even to the very end. Be sure to have a few thousand SP to spare for inventing items and maxing out new skills (3 or 4,000 SP is good as that should guarantee you'll be able to max out any new skills you get and max out all the skills of new characters you meet). I made sure you do this before heading to any new world because the thought of not have enough SP for something really set off my OCD.

I’m currently looking for a more efficient way to do this, but as it stands you can get an infinite (if slow) flow of Stat boosting seeds (Attack Seeds, Defense Seeds, etc) this way. On Lemuris there is the town of Woodley, covered in snow. Outside you will find a place for Harvesting and, as you head towards the greenery of the forest, you will find two more. There are other Harvesting points beyond these but don’t waste your time. One (usually all) of these three will give up a Bizarre Fruit (this assumes Reimi’s Harvesting skill is level 10), and eating one gives you a randomly generated seed. Save before eating the fruit if you want a specific Seed, just reload and try again if you don’t get what you wanted. After Harvesting return to the Calnus, the act of entering the ship resets the Harvesting points and you can go back to Woodley to grab more fruit.

If you've reached the third disk the process actually involves real-life work. Teleporting Nox Obscuras (which requires physically swapping disks) and entering the Calnus, then teleporting right back (again making you swap disks) resets the Harvesting points and lets you grab more Seeds. It's a hassle, but these items are extremely valuable and incredibly rare if you're not using this technique. I'll be looking for a faster approach to this.

P.S. Again with the strange text. I suspect it's because I had to copy/paste alot of this, but it was just too much to retype from scratch in a timely manner. Is there anyway for a mod to fix this?

Now that I've beaten the toughest enemy in the game I can feel confident in showing you all the tools I used to do it. First and foremost, I must explain how to take the damage you deal to the limit.

The Ultimate Bomb

If you never saw the inventor Jasmine in her workshop in Tatroi on Roak you need to see her now. Jasmine has some fetch quests for you, none of which are very hard though all are tedious. After the Fourth of these quests you are rewarded with an item called The Ulimate Bomb. You might be tempted to use it, some of you may have already, but I'm telling you that's a very bad idea.

In Synthesis the Ultimate Bomb is all but useless, except when placed on a weapon. This gives you a factor of +35% HP Damage, which is calculated separately from  your Attack stat and will thus increase the damage you do even if your Attack stat is maxed at 9999. Lesser bombs can add 20% to HP damage, but no others come close to this 35. Because the Bomb costs 11 Magical Clays to duplicate it is very difficult (or at least time consuming) to reproduce the factor on multiple items, if of course you do not know my Duplication trick.

Synthesis the Ultimate Bomb into a low level weapon with no other Factors, I used the Silvance, but what you use is your choice. Lower level weapons cost 1 Clay to duplicate, which means you can outfit your entire party with this Factor for the price of copying the bomb itself one time.

Of all the End-Game weapons Edge has the only one that is a blank slate with no Factors, which means that in the end Edge will benefit the most from this and have the highest per hit attack power of your party (unless you fail to level him up or give him his best equipment). Edge will have +140% extra HP damage on his Imperial Sword, which means every one of his hits will be doing 240% of thier normal damage. That's about two and a half times the normal damage and (unfortunately for every enemy you'll ever face from here on out) we are not done.

The Slayer's Bangle

You may have seen this item, with it's One Hit Chance, and you may have wondered what that was about. Adding One Hit Chance means giving your weapon an extra hit whenever you swing it. More precisely, you will hit twice every time you land a shot. The second hit is 50% of the first, so you're basically adding 50% to your damage right away. The Tri-emblem boasts a Factor of Two Hit Chances, which might draw some oohs and ahhs because that is three hits not, your normal attack, one for 50%, and another for 25%. However that didn't impress me because the other Factors on there were useless. What I decided to do was make 2 Bangles. The second I Synthed into another low level weapon, since the Bangle itself costs 7 Clays to duplicate and the weapon only costs one. I copied the blade and then Synthed it into the first Bangle, so that now I had an accessory with three hit chances (50% then 25% then 12.5%) and an open slot for one more Factor. Here I put Increased Chance of Critical Hit, but you can use one of your choosing. A fourth Hit Chance would have only added 6.75% damage, which would have been something like 2,000 and did not seem worth my while. Critical hits nearly double your damage, so that one did seem worth it.

87.5% extra damage on top of what you already do. Add that to the 240% from before and you have 325% right? Wrong. The 87.5% is calculated after you add the extra HP damage you're doing, so in reality it is 87.5% of 240, which is 210. So, at the end of the day you hit for 450% of the damage you normally do. This is the best tip I have to reveal.

There is one caveat though, these damage bonuses do not extend to special moves or rush combos, only your normal attacks. You will do something like 60,000 damage with every hit and will hit several times in the time it would take you to pull off one of those moves though, so you are still doing tremendous damage. The damage is something akin to starting a Rush Combo at the beginning of the fight and having it never end.

As an example for damage: Edge's normal attacks hit for an average of 32,000 with the first blow, and 16k, 8k, and 4k four the second third and fourth that come from the single hit. Total damage for just 1 swing averages to 60k, and Edge's combos are decently long and fast. Now imagine at least 3 characters doing this sort of damage all at once. To take advantage of this set your attackers to "Fight Freestyle" or "Gang up" without using MP, they will do much more damage this way.

End Game Equipment

At this point I'll list the Equipment I have for my main party, their levels and stats, and any relevant information I think you'll need to get your people at the same level.

Edge

Imperial Sword

Note: The Stock Imperial Sword is only 4400 Attack, however I made 10 duplicates of it all told. One was given the 140% HP damage and then Synthed into the original, and then the other nine were Synthed into that original as well. By always keeping the base weapon the same you can stack the bonuses each weapon will give. In this case each Imperial Sword adds 220 to the power of you weapon.

Universal Armor

4005 Defense
+60% Defense
+20% Maximum HP

Note: Again the armor is well over it's stock stats. For this I made a duplicate of the armor and Synthed the Factors into that, then Synthed the Duplicate into the original to conserve the Synth limit. For the rest I used Moonstone Swords to raise the defense at about 65 points a Synth. I could have used the Armor, duplicated several times over, and the Defense would have been nearer to or exceeding 5000 in the end, however this takes a long time and my current set-up allowed me to max out the character's defense anyway.

Anti-Void Amulet

-Immunity to Void

-Immunity to Frozen
-Immunity to Paralysis

Note: I focused on the stat effects that could do the most harm in the Wandering Dungeon (Void is especially bad) but I have several variants of this item for different scenarios. I am not sure whether the Ethereal Queen casts any effects though, so I may make a new amulet specifically geared to help with that fight.

Note: I did nothing special with this armor besides the HP Factors, it serves its purpose. After beating the Ethereal Queen you get the Valkrie Garb, a much better suit. However, there's no incentive to craft the thing at all having beaten the most powerful enemy in the game.

I just rented this game to see how it was, and having only played a day so far I may be wrong, but...

It seems like if you use RB to switch through all the characters when a battle starts, you end up getting credit for all character trophies even if you dont fight with them. For example, I enter with Edge, RB to Reimi, RB to Faize, RB to Edge and then win the battle using Edge only to attack with - I get Edge, Reimi, and Faize trophies.

Not all the time; the majority of trophies require you to actually play the character in the battle. There are some that you can switch characters mid-battle and get, and alot you cannot.

For example: Killing 30,000 enemies with Edge/Arumat each require you to actually be in control of them and land the killing blow.

Couple of Meracle's trophies are eluding me ATM...

Prevent an enemy from escaping battle

And

Defeat an enemy from behind


I was working on the Thieving Scumbags for potentially the first of those.  I got a couple of them in mid-escape routing, but didn't get the trophy.  What, exactly, is the specifications for that?

Also, the defeat from behind, I've done several times to various enemies, but no trophy.  Again, anything "special" for that one?  I know, it should be one of those no-brainer trophies, but it just isn't popping.

I'm trying to get at least 50 trophies for each character so I can knock out that level cap.  So far, I've gotten Edge, Reimi, Lymle, and Bacchus done, and just need 15 more for Meracle.
