It's release is set for November from what I see - I'm glad the game in general will be longer in length, I really enjoyed the first but would have liked to have seen a longer campaign. The AI Director sounds really cool as well.

Set for Nov. 17 as an Xbox 360 and PC "exclusive", the game will add melee combat, deeper cooperative gameplay and new weapons, including a chainsaw, frying pan, axe and baseball bat.

The game will make use of AI Director 2.0, which Valve says will take the game's dynamic gameplay to the next level. That means the ability to procedurally change weather, world objects and pathways and "tailoring" enemy population, effects and sound.

The game will also feature new Survivors, boss zombies, weapons, and items. Valve says the game is much larger than the original with more co-operative campaigns, more Versus campaigns, and maps for Survival mode available at launch.

"Left 4 Dead was backed by our most aggressive advertising campaign to date, and resulted in a top 5 showing on two platforms during holiday 2008," said Doug Lombardi, VP of marketing at Valve. "Left 4 Dead 2 is a larger game and will be supported with even more consumer and retail advertising programs than the original."

i thought they would keep releasing new campaigns on the first L4D for another year and then we might see a sequel

that being said it definitely looks fun and i'll probably be picking up L4D2 because i really enjoyed the first game

looks like L4D2 is taking some aspects of Dead Rising into its gameplay with the new melee weapons - i like that

Y'see. After seeing all the improvements and add-ons that Criterion did with Burnout, I really have no idea what can be done with DLC.

Valve, so far, has my respect for a lot of their DLC and pricing. The Orange Box was awesome. 5 games for the price of 1. Great stuff, they added the free DLC to Left 4 Dead.

I'm hoping that because this sequel is coming so quickly, and really doesn't look to add all that much (In my opinion, new maps, melee, and different play style isn't really all that much, at least not in relation to a $69.99 price tag) that they have a reduced price attached to it.

Valve is usually pretty good with that kind of thing, they seem to be, at least. So here's hoping it's cheaper than full retail price.

I say even if you broke that content into chunks and released it as DLC you would end up with same price as retail release so if there making that big a changes. I guess it makes sense for them to put out a part 2.

I know I loved the 1st one so I will for sure get this one as it sounds twice as good as the 1st one.

The 1st game was only $49 retail so as long as they stick to that it makes me even happier.

Then again, I'm exaggerating, because 1) Maybe it's a full length game now? and 2) I never really wanted to buy it in the first place.. as Halo is not my cup o' tea.

I won't pay full price for ODST. *** that. It'll just be another overrated Halo game. I guess I'll wait for it to drop in price or do the trade 3, get 1 free deal to get it for $35. It's mot worth $69.99 CAD to me.

The Orange Box was okay. 1 older game I already played through a few times years ago, plus 2/3rds of a sort-of expansion/sequel which we're still waiting to be completed even though the point of episodic content was to greatly decrease the turnaround time between releases, a great puzzle game, and a team-based game which is much more supported in the PC version and rather forgotten on the Xbox 360, all for the price of 1. Okay stuff I guess unless you bought it at full retail, and they added the free DLC to Left 4 Dead, except if you buy it retail which they've now bundled in so they could keep the retail cost up.
