As some of you math geniuses (genii?) may have noticed, we are fast approaching our 100th issue -- it will be the September cover issue, which hits stands in late July because that's how magazines work, okay?

We are planning a small retrospective, and we do not want it to be the standard, stupid, self-congratulatory nonsense. We are not, for instance, asking developers and publishers to write us an ego-stroke letter to put in the letter column, saying how great OXM is and how it's their favorite magazine ever.

We will, however, ask you for that.

September's Message Center will feature normal letters, but also a sidebar of your most vivid OXM memories. Truthfully, they do not have to be positive -- if you have a grumpy memory about a score you disliked, a section you liked but has since been retired, or something that made you give up on a game you were looking forward to, that's valid. But hopefully you have some sunny thoughts to share too -- favorite articles, surprises you didn't expect to see in the magazine, jokes that made you laugh, interesting interviews or articles that taught you something new. You've got all the way back to the first issue in 2001 to draw on.

Post your OXM memories here; I will be compiling the best on or around June 8, if my deadline goes as planned. :) The best letters will appear in a special sidebar that will run through Message Center in the 100th issue. Thanks!

I would have to say that my best memory would be when I first started listening to the KOXM Podcast. I had began a new almost "fanboy" state. I read every single word in the magazine no matter how uninterested I was in the game that got a 4.0. I listened to every podcast, sometimes more than once. And I was even inspired to write my own articles and make my own "magazine" with the help of Photoshop.

That seems like it was so long ago. Its actually been what? 3 years?

My fondest memories of OXM are all related to KOXM. I subscribe to the magazine just so I can support the podcasts and keep them coming.

If I were to pick some moments from KOXM, the awards show was a blast. And so was the one with where the endlist setlist got blown in Rock Band and everyone had to start over.

Keep the magazine and the podcasts coming!

1. Dan's "Viva Pinata Song". It stuck in my head for months >.<

2. An article Ryan did a few years back in OXM that detailed his disappointment in the cancellation of True Fantasy Live Online. I felt your pain as well Crying [:'(]

3.OXM reviews Halo 2. This was the pinnacle and most significant review at the time. Could 3 years of hype finally be justified on Nov 9th 2004? OXM delivered that answer in 14 pages of bliss.

I really enjoyed my first issue, number 10. The magazine was great with some info on Unreal Tournament on 360 and the disc came with exclusive content for dead or alive 3!

Strongest memories... pretty easy there. Two really stick out for me.

1. The demise and return of the bottom page quips.

2. Seeing Starcraft : Ghost on the cover TWICE and the freaking game never came out. I really was looking forward to that one. Just thinking about it again really pisses me off.

I actually got issue no. 1 and ever since then, I have been getting them like a fat boy in a candy shop. Great reads and as always, they deliver on the news.
Can't wait for the issue to be released. You guys should do some special xbox Theme or gamer pics.

Dear OXM,

Thanks for the many years of companionship. It's been a great ride taking the magazine with me, even when I was a little lost in OXM Universe trying to locate OXM Digital. From the amazing Easter Egg demo codes (Japanese Phantom Dust, anyone?) and the awesome music downloadables (Silent Hill music? Yes, please!), it has been one page-turning adventure. While we never saw the release of B.C. or TFLO (along with many other games), OXM was there to preview everything and anything, even suffering to review Drake of the 99 Dragons.

With the multitude of interesting articles (and even some creepy ones thanks to "MyIdeaOfFun"), you never knew what to expect in the next issue of OXM. I tried to guess the demos when "In The Queue" was around, but I was only about 9.7% right. At least I enjoyed some refreshingly twisted gameplay. Please remember: don't eat the magazine, Munch.

My fondest memory of OXM has just been recieving all the issues every month since 2004 and never being unhappy or bored with the magazine when it showed up. OXM was basically my gateway into hardcore gaming and along with that, the mag has even gotten me into journalism and has made me excited about being able to one day go out and write about games myself. Without OXM, I may very well not have been the gamer that I am today.

OMG. I was not on staff for that but I was in the building working on other projects, and holy cow! It was cool that the staff had the balls to try something new, but just as cool that the staff quickly responded to the reader feedback. It's still a running joke on staff -- "we can try any new ideas we want, just don't touch the bottom fillers!" :)

I have 2 memories that I can think of right now. The first is the first time I had ever written a letter to any publication before, was a letter to OXM regardng Rock Band and Guitar Hero. Within a couple of days, my letter was responded to and it was as close to star struck as I had ever been when it comes to video games. The fact that I had proof that someone at OXM had actually taken the time to read my letter and found it worthwhile enough to respond, was just mind blowing to me. The second was another time when I had a brush with an OXM editor, the first time I had ever played online with someone on the OXM staff. I was playing Street Fighter IV online with some other community members, when Dan joined our party for a few matches. I got in a couple of rounds with him, the whole time thinking, "this is the same guy I listen to on my ipod every week and see on Inside Xbox every so often and whose words I read monthly in the magazine and online." and I think the only words that came out of my mouth were "good match."

Not to mention the many friends I have made that I would have never met if it weren't for the magazine.

When I die, I want to go like grandpa, peacefully while I'm asleep. Not screaming like the other people in his car.

The accuracy of both the Rumor Mole and the Crystal Ball is outstanding.

I have enjoyed the last 8 years. Can't wait to see what the next 8 bring us. Maybe I will keep track of them somehow...

I'd say I have two fond memories. Number one being the first issue. Getting a sneak peek of the new console and seeing what the controller looked like. That issue was almost from outer space it was so futuristic.

And second was the first look at Halo 2 article that Ryan wrote. I was in the hospital at that time, so not being able to play any games it was great to be able to read about Halo 2 before it came out. I think I read that article probably 10 times and it never got old.

It is hard to choose; From being placed in Meet the Team to winning the Fallout 3 Bobblehead on episode 100. Finding the magazine every month in my mailbox, listening to a new podcast every week, and finding a gem of a demo on the monthly disc. One memory was being run off the road by Paul in the Burnout Paradise, then there was being killed five times by Fran in Halo 3 Multiplayer, the list just keeps growing.

One of my favorite memories is getting to the point where I read & knew your articles so well, that once I came across an Xbox promo pamplet about a game, I believe it was Ninja Gaiden, and it had a promo in it that was a word for word copy of Francessa's review for the game.

Edit: I also need to add that finding the secret rumble code on the original OXM disks, and the evolution of OXM Points into OXMU were personal favorites of mine.

I have lots of great memories from OXM. So here are some of the ones that stick out most. How OXM lets the community interact with the magazine, and that they respond to community membes that write to them. My favorite issue was #10 sept 2002 page 48-60 all about Xbox Live. All of the oxm demo disc's 1-98 and everthing put on them. The Halo pyramid of destruction videos back in the day. All the different kinds of contest's in the magazine, and koxm podcast even know I havn't won yet. And many more memories.

I believe that would fall under how OXM lets the community interact with the magazine! :) I didn't want to seem ego-stoked about being in nerd corps, but yes issue #71 is one of my all time favorites also. Issue 10 is what hooked me into Live, not long after that issue I got into the Xbox Live Beta.

My favorite memory is the early stages of the podcast especially episode 16. This had an interview with cliffy b. I remember listening to this interview over and over and it just got me excited to be an early adopter of the xbox 360. The podcast has only improved since this point

A good memory branched off from OXM is when a bunch of the forum guys got together to play SF2 Turbo HD Remix. It was a tournament of epic proportions and was lots of fun. And with MvsC2 coming out soon, I think another tourney would awseome!
