Grid with Microsoft racing wheel and comparisome
I am setting up a Gaming lounge and one of the events i am going to run is a 6 man racing competition. I wanted to gather some feedback on How grid compares to Forza.I have played forza and found it to be very difficult to master and not very " noob" friendly for casual gamers. The graphics in Forza dont seem to hold up as well but that may be my untrained eye speaking.
Grid on the otherhand blew me away but i have only played the demo.

Do you know how Grid plays with the microsoft wheel ( apparently forza plays very well with the wheel!)
I need to buy 6 of these so i need some good feedback on wether Grid will be a better game to run than forza both with the wheel and in general from a game/graphics point of view.
Thanks in advance for your feedback

Re: Grid with Microsoft racing wheel and comparisome
Firstly, where in the world are you? I wish/hope its near me.. lol.

2nd,... For me personally and i've noticed it amongst players in our team over at Mach Racing,

Grid... much much better and just about essential with wheel.. Can adjust in immedtiately... members were buyin wheels as the word got around about them.

Forza 2 - Heres there difference,... all those that I know of in the team that use wheel on Grid.. don't on Forza.. lol. That includes myself... With all the different settings in the options menu coupled with each tuned or not tuned car the steering with a wheel has so far for me been a pain in the a$$. Its all down to the major difference between the games though.. Grid = arcade and Forza = sim. Its fair play to both games and I love em both.

Grid really is a special game and in my opinion and experience was much easier to jump into than Forza which took some time. Both have optional collisions off so that can help novices racing together.

Graphically Grid tears every car game out there to pieces... I don't think even the biggest Forza fan could disagree with that,... however if there was going to be one tiny argument... Forza runs very cleanly and correct me if wrong, runs a higher frame rate. I personally only ever noticed this once i'd upgraded my tv to a 42". Its not noticeable to the untrained eye though... you know.. our dads.. :P

Hope this helps somewhat anyways...

That helps out alot!!! I was on the fence about them. I felt forza was a advanced game but in a social setting you need accessibility over simulation.

My Game centre is called EVO Games and is opening in July. Im just building the center now and getting it all put together.
Its going to be located in Victoria BC canada

So i hear you saying that Grid will work with the wheel and turning and rumble and all the handling will result in a good experience for someone?
I guess ill have to go but a copy to test out!
Thanks  man!!!

Re: Grid with Microsoft racing wheel and comparisome
So did you get your copy of GRID EVO Knight?? Based on fun factor and newbie learning curve this game blows the doors off any racer out there right now on Xbox!! Cheers to a fellow Canadian who has set up a gaming centre and considered GRID to be the racing game to play for your customers. Too bad I live near Toronto and not Victoria as I would be there at your place EVO in a heartbeat dropping money all over the place just to give your racing equipment a go...Most gaming centres in my locale cater to the FPS and Sports genres yet no virtual racing hence, no real interest...Did you decide upon GRID to be played in your centre?? If so, I just could be swayed into buying an airline ticket to BC.  Wink [;)]

Nice to hear EVO!! GRID will not let you down. Hoping once your stations are fully functional everyone should love the feel and fun factor of racing GRID. Codemasters will be releasing DIRT 2 sometime this Fall so keep your eyes open EVO for this gem. Off-road racing at your play stations may push the envelope on competitive fun!!  Yes [Y]

EvoKnight... I don't live anywhere near you, but I just wanted to say that I think it's awesome that you're setting up a game lounge and wish that we had one where I live.  Well, actually we did used to have one right below my sisters apartment, but it was for PC gaming and I prefer consoles.  But anyway, kudos to you.

Re: Grid with Microsoft racing wheel and comparisome
Hi, I hated Forza 2 with a steering wheel. It felt like towing a raging bull with a helicopter. Games like Burnout P, TD Unlimited and PGR or even NFSs seemed much better for me.
Grid is awesome with a steering wheel EXCEPT for drifting. It's really hard if you're not practicing like every day which I'm not. But overall driving with the official steering wheel is awesome, I can only recommend.
Again, there is a huge loss of control sticks present on the steering wheel which would help you rotate the view around when looking at your car. When I'm coloring and setting up my car I have to use the controller.
Graphics-wise it's a tie for me. Forza had nicer and cleaner graphics but Grid has more details and nicer tracks, if it only wasn't for that 'coffee filter'.

What's the "coffee filter" you're talking about?

Re: Grid with Microsoft racing wheel and comparisome
It's that kind of color correction that makes the picture more brown-ish. You see that quite commonly in movies and games and it's supposed to make the picture more 'real'.
