what determines the amount of points that are won or lost?

any if i beat an opponent and they lose ten spoints surely i should get ten points? today i only got 8, other 2??????

no, its never the same as it based on ELO ranking system.

But, they have also added a new factor in that you get more points if you win with a lower ranked team.  Unfortunately they haven't specified which teams are weak so you have to work it out.

I have used The Potteries (Stoke) and beat Man U,  this gave me 5 points which put me on 751 points total.  I'd only get 2 points if i had been Man U i think.

Thats why you see a lot of people online using The Potteries now i think,  plus if you draw with someone on lower points but you had the weak team,  then you get the points.  This was never the case in previous versions,  if you drew a match, then the higher ranked player would always lose points no matter what.

but if you get points surely you get the same as what is deducted from the opponent, in my match 2 points vanished

nope, thats not how the ELO system works.. points are not even like that
