If I see a good score and most of the boasting is the graphics I tend to pass, as eye candy is never worth a full priced game. And i tend not to focus too much on it once the action starts (unless it gets in the way, i.e. no overview/messy etc), same goes for a low score due to crappy online for a game i buy to play singel player, and vice versa. "The story is crappy" doesn't really bother me if I intend to run around online and shoot people. And, on a 1-10 scale, 5-6 should be average. 7-8 Good. 9-10 Great/nearly perfect. So plox; what did they say in the review?
Sillinde wrote:I don't mind the score as much as the inflation of the score. 8 is decent. Look at reviews for all games released this year, the number of 7-9's is WAY higher then the number of good games. But, like you said, I do find it stupid to read a number to figure out how good a game is. I prefer to use it as a measure to the things said in the review. Aka: does the things he find bad have a major impact? Minor? Do the good simply outweight the bad? Certain sites I avoid altogether because of their craptastic scoring system. Scoring graphics on the same level as story doesn't match on any genre. In RPG's the store count more, in most FPS's (online based) the graphics mean more. Crysis for instance was a pile of garbage but got a very high score due to amazing graphics.Unless reviews say Overlord 2 has lost all the things I loved about Overlord 1 I will most likely love this game regardless of score.
