PGR 1, 2 Or 3. Which is best?
Which do you gamers out there find best? I find PGR2 to be the best and most challenging. Also, WTF microsoft, is PGR1 and 2 going to be available or not? I need to know wether I can sell my old XBOX so that I can continue playing them. If there's someone out there that knows WTF gives, please let me know.

According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360_backwards_compatibility, PGR 1 and 2 are now backwards-compat.

I agree I think PGR2 was better than PGR3, though PGR3 had achievements of course.

Edit note: I had to rewrite this whole post because I forgot there were 4 games, and all the info I commented on was aimed at the wrong games.

I owned the first 3 games in the series (never played 4) and I liked them all for different reasons. It's hard to choose a favorite, but i'm going with PGR 1. I didn't think 2 had enough innovation to separate it from the first one. I liked 1 because the kudos were so important and much harder to get than in the other games. You needed them to unlock cars and progress thru the game.

In 3, they made the game too easy, because Kudos are worthless, and you got money from each race no matter how many times you ran it. Getting all the cars was a cake walk, and I never felt challenged except from some stiff online competition. In fact online is the only thing 3 has over the first 2 games. Well maybe graphics and Achievments, those are nice too.

In the end, I got more enjoyment from 1, but I probably played 3 the most due to Xbox Live.

Dear MS; Please make Midtown Madness 3 backwards compatible!

PGR 2 is online, infact it was the third Xbox Live enabled game made.

The games are BC, but you don't want to get rid of your old Xbox.  The emulator is crap and plays terribly.

To answer the original question, PGR 2 is the best one of the series by far.  Everything about it is better than the rest... the cars, car class layout, the tracks, the kudos, menu stucture and the community are all better.

I would, most definitively, say PGR 2. Hands-down. One reason alone being that since in the Kudos World Series, every challenge was really fine-tuned, since the developers only had a small set of similar cars that were in the same class.

All it took for me to beat PGR 3 on Platinum was to find one vehicle to dope my way through every single challenge no problem =X

Exactly. PGR2 on Platinum was not fun.

Heh, you are kidding, no?

Just because something isn't necessarily easy, doesn't mean it isn't any fun. I got about 30x more enjoyment out of PGR2's single player than I did out of PGR3's =X

Well, back when I used to really suck at the game, I didn't consider doing Platinum fun [I remember when I first rented the game, I was proud that I managed to beat a challenge on Bronze xD] at all. But once I got my skills up to par, Platinum became lots of fun. Yes, there were a few challenges which were totally unfair, and even monotonous. But considering how well refined it was, it was awesome =]

PGR3 posed no true challenge, what-so-ever... that is, only after you got that one car to dink your way through every single challenge on Platinum with relative ease.

PGR2 on platinum was one of those game that stressed me out till I got really good at it. After I beat it 2x on platinum then it became fun. American Muscle was really fun.

Definitely PGR2. People actually played it online and platinum couldn't be done by a 2 year old.

i played 1,3,and 4. i like 1 the best but im gonna hate to have to start it over on the 360 after i got the skyline, tho there are better cars. I personaly like the music on 1 better than 3 and 4. and the way u can change the music and make choose wat u listen to. even tho some songs like Workhorse by Polecat i cant seem to find online. as if the band doesnt exist. but either way, i like 3... but 1 is the best until i play 2, which will be hard to find nowadays

The thing I liked about the first one is the difficulty. Also, you had to go back and play earlier levels, not just to get the metals, but to maximize your Kudos which were needed to unlock the best cars. I was around the 80% completion mark in the first game. I finally got to a race that I just couldn't beat.

PGR 2 won't be that hard to find.  It was packaged with Xbox LIVE at one point.  I've seen copies on Amazon for 25 cents.  New it should be about $10.

I would say that I think I sunk the most time into PGR3 but as far as scoring wise.... PGR2 > PGR3 > PGR4 > PGR.

The only reason I am putting the first PGR in last place is just because it doesn't hold up amazingly well anymore, especially with the overly punishing crash detection system.  One mistake on many platinum runs and you would have to start over...even if you didn't make it around a corner fast enough or brushed a rail in the slightest would kill your kudos count instantly!

Does anyone play PGR2 online anymore?

It's hit or miss, but the game is pretty much dead online.
