Back in 2006 I didn't care, I just thought achievements were cool. But
now we can clearly see from many games that boosting ruins the online
experience. Infinity Ward seem to be one of the only few
that understand this.
And although I know boosting is what ruined the leaderboard in the
first place, I can still understand why it started because the thing
is, most people want the achievement and obviously, assuming a
completely fair non boosted leaderboard, it would take a lot of skill
to actually be that one guy to be at the top. Also, there would be
people that hog the place (rightly so maybe if they're good enough) making it even harder.
So along comes boosting, people want a shot at it and that's the way to
do it. So the score gets pretty high but is still reachable. Then the
glitch gets discovered to make it "super easy" to get to the top, literally 2-3 hours tops to get number 1... Until THAT score also gets
out of reach then it goes back to the way it was and it still
unrealistically reachable and then along comes someone who hogs the top spot as well
with boosted scores.
The thing is, you can't blame the original boosters really, it's
completely unavoidable they just wanted to complete their game and
found a method to do it. In an ideal world, I suppose let each booster get it, then leave it and allow the other people to pass you. Not like that's gonna happen though. XD
Also, I'm fairly sure the top spot is a LOT higher than 64,000 or whatever someone said and not just because it's been a few months since that post. Since 2008 it's been well over 200,000 and I have a feeling that the 64,000 you see is actually 640,000 with the 0 cut off on the end. This achievement is now for the truly dedicated only because you have to get such a high score, and compete with that one guy at the top who wants to keep it, AND compete with your fellow equally dedicated boosters that also want the achievement.
You're looking at hundreds of hours assuming you're gonna be helping out the people that helped you, they probably want it as well you know. But in any case, good luck to you.
