Rented it and it lacks co-op and is extremely repetitive. It does have a storyline, action, dialogue, cut scenes. I would have given it a 7/10.

I like it, and it was only $20 new for me so...it has its problems but overall I like it, specially the setting and art style.

Used to play the originals on the Genesis with friends, its a bummer there isn't coop but its still an enjoyable game. Achievements are quite challenging too.

I've wanted this game since it came out and a few days ago I saw it used in brand friggin new condition for 15 bucks.  I'm really glad i didn't spend 60 on it when it came out but for 20 dollars or less it can't be beat.  After a couple of days of getting the hang of it, I'm really starting to enjoy it.

All hack and slash games are repetitive.

I'd give it around the same score though.

I haven't played this game so I can't say what it really deserves, but for me this game really showed how flawed previews are.

I the moment I saw this game I thought it looked like ***. Not only did it not seem to appeal to me personally but it didn't even look like it would have anyqualities embraced by the mainstream consumer.

I have a subscription to OXM and everything they showed about this game looked bland but they just kept covering it and saying things like this feature will be cool and what not.

Anyways the game comes out and they rate it mediocre, surprise surprise. I don't know why they do cover mediocre games in previews because they can never say anything bad about because their technically a work in progress.

It's certainly got it's flaws, lack of multiplayer is the least of them.

The writing for the story and dialogue is horrid.
Tribute system could have been so much more, buy upgrades to swords/armour/magic that you wanted, when you wanted
Evade not functioning properly
Beasts losing HP and dying as a penalty for using their abilities

The last one especially makes no sense, considering that most beasts in the game are on infinite respawn at a beast summon platform.  Perhaps an ability bar that would deplete during use, and refill itself over time, would have been much better.

Plus a slew of other miscellaneous issues, such as the Brutal Counter on Death Adder doing no damage.

For all the bad, the game does have two redeeming qualities, and that is the parry/evade based gameplay (when it works) and beast riding. Both of these are incredibly satisfying.

I'd agree with somewhere around a 7 for an overall rating. Multiplayer, as tired a subject as it is, would have probably made this game a lot more fun, and a lot more popular. It's easier to overlook a game's flaws when you're playing it with others.

I like the game.  The 360 doesn't have many hack-n-slash games available.  I like the parry and evade system.  The art direction is great.  Again, the 360 doesn't have too many games with this theme.  I like how you can spot some old Golden Axe references.  The Boss battles are fun and riding the different beasts is cool. I think the game should score around a 7-8.

I returned it and I almost never return games.  I still can't understand why they didn't bring back the dwarf and barbarian as PLAYABLE characters.

That would have been nice as unlockables, but I don't think it would have fit as the story is supposedly a prequel to the original Golden Axe, therefore the story of the 3 heroes wouldn't take place yet.

I thought the design for the 3 characters was nice too, a little more mature and realistic than their old fantasy wear.
