The UEFA Champions League is finished - Barcelona are champions - and all is good in the world of football - So who will win NZ's own Fifa 360 league??

I’m running a Fifa 09 league which will run from now until 8pm on Saturday 27 June.

The league is limited to 15 spots, so get in there (The previous ones fill up quite quickly).

If you’re interested, send me a message over live (Gamertag = Teljam) – I’ll send you the league name and password.

This is a league for NZ 360 gamers only – It’s a lot of fun, and the winner of the league will receive a free game at the whim of the mighty Kumara Kid, as well as owning the kudos of being the League Champ!

In addition, there'll be a participation prize - To have a chance at winning this prize, you'll just need to complete the same amount of games as the league winner.

NOTE: For this league, you can choose any team you want - so I'm sure we'll see lots of Barcelonas and Manchester United's!!

There’s a couple of guidelines to note please as follows:

• All games are 5 minutes per half

• Each team will play every other team only once

• I’ll be making no allowance for disconnects – Fifa allocates points to the person who disconnects – so you’ll just have to live with the outcomes here – so please make sure your NAT settings on your router are set to open etc.

• Try and make sure you complete all of your games – Even if you’re not winning the league, the results of your games can influence who actually does win ++ you could win the participation prize!!

• You can play your games anytime – Once you’re in the league lobby – it shows who’s online from the league, and you can send invites etc from there

• The winner will be the leader as at 8pm on Saturday 27 June – ie. So have your games completed BEFORE 8pm on that day.

• + If you’re new to this, don’t be afraid to ask for help or tips – Most of the good players are more than happy to help

• Finally – Have fun – That’s what these leagues are all about.

There was some interesting games last night.

naturalhigh and I played first-up in a game between Liverpool and Bayern Munich. naturalhigh's beaten me before, but last night I was able to win convincingly 3-0.

I then played Kiwisharp - Liverpool vs. Chelsea - Kiwisharp won 7 -0 - That's right 7 against my zero. No excuses from me, and great stuff from kiwisharp.

After that I played TerraNZ, and we had a close affair with our teams Liverpool vs Man United. I was able to score one on the first half, and TerraNZ scored a spectacular own goal in the second. Final Score 2-0.

And to top it off, TerraNZ and Kiwisharp played against each other - Now get this - Final score 0-0, with TerraNZ reduced to 10 men after another bookable offence. Go figure.

Finally I played against the awesome Andrewmccaa - Previously, I've been able to hold him off, but last night his French National Team tore apart my beloved Liverpool for a 4-0 hiding.

So the league is underway, and there's been some furious footy already.

There still a few spots left, so get in there, as I'm expecting it to fill up by tomorrow.

...Football's a funny old game...

Tonight I played a couple of the better players in the league - Prelithe and nzmofo.

The game against Prelithe saw Liverpool face off against Brazil. Brazil took an early lead in the first half. Fortunately I was able to draw level almost immediately. Ten minutes later another goal to Liverpool, and a final goal in the second half. The last time I played Prelithe, I went down 3-0, so this was a massive turnaround for me and my Liverpool.

When I saw the game invite from nzmofo, I thought - here we go - He's a previous league winner, and I don't think I've ever beaten him . Tonight though, my Liverpool were able to withstand the challenge against his Inter Milan team. Occasionally you have a game where everything seems to go just right, and tonight was my night for this. Steve Gerard scored 3 medium range goals from about 25 yards to give me a 3-0 lead. Later in the second half Milan scored, and I was able to score one more to finish 4-1.

The league is now in full swing, and Kiwisharp (That's the bloke who beat me 7-0!!!) is leading the league, with my Liverpool in second place.

Having said this, as of writing though, Kiwisharp has just lost to Andrewmccaa, who seems to be on form again for this league.

And just when you thought we knew who would win the league...

Terra NZ has beaten Andrewmccaa 2-1 - Even he was stunned when we spoke about it afterwards!! 

Awesome stuff TerraNZ - So who's going to win the league - I dunno, but all of the top runners have now lost and its wide open at this stage.

There's been some great footy to date, and most are enjoying to competitive nature of this league.

Last night I managed a good win against Clark007E, and today I had a tough game against WazzaNZ - I finally prevailed 4-2, but Wazza's Real Madrid can cause quite a few headaches. I think he'll cause a few problems for a number of the other teams.

Kiwisharp is currently leading the league, but Andrewmccaa is looking ominous - Both these players have lost a game, so it'll be pretty tight leading into the final games.

Have we got a new contender?

Ron from NZ Gamer paying as Spain took me apart in the 1st half of our game with 3 well taken goals. He was unlucky to not get another, but I decided to take down his player, and received a Red Card for the privilege. With 20 minutes to go, my Liverpool became deperate, and clawed back with 2 quick goals, and we spent the last 10 minutes of the game going to and fro.

A well deserved win for Ron and has Spanish National Team - and a quick look at his stats, shows 3 wins and one draw - Good luck dude!!

  Teljam i think this league is the best we have had! there seems to be 5 or 6 people that can win it?

as nzmofo said he dominated me last night but it is always very competitive to play him,but inter was all over me in this one,

i hope everyone plays or trys to play all there games so we all play the same amount!
even if you are last wouldn't it be good to knock over a front runner?

Yep - I agree Andrewmccaa - Been the best one yet.

So tonight, JDdotCOM and I met in what would be a great encounter with my Liverpool vs his England.

To say I was lucky in the first 5 minutes of the match would be an understatement. He put together a beautiful move, and ended up with a shot which hit the inside of one post, bounced along the line to hit off the other post - we both watched - he was starting to celebrate, and my keeper just dived on the ball which was now on the line on the middle of the goal. I wiped the sweat from my brow, and then got into the groove. The final score was 5-1 to Liverpool, but that's not a fair reflection on what was a tight game - Cheers JDdotCOM for the match.

KiwiSharp still tops the league, with the always glorious Liverpool in second place, although I note there's Andrewmccaa with a few games in hand on the leaders, so it's still anyone's league.

Get in their guys and give these top guys a crack - There's been some mighty upsets, and more to come I hope.

Ex league champion JETSET BOY playing as Barcelona came up against the mighty Liverpool tonight. Liverpool went ahead 1-0 after 5 minutes with a well taken goal. I thought I was cruising to an easy win, and all of a sudden JETSET seemed ot kick into action and scored a good equaliser. The game was pretty even, until he had a man sent off just before the first half ended.

The second half saw Barcelona sprint out of the blocks, and they scored another good goal, after a clever cut inside Liverpool's defence. And then with 15 to go, he chopped down Torres who had broken through his defence. So with 9 men on the field against my 11, I still could not break down his defence, and the game ended with a 2-1 win to Barcelona in what was a close encounter with a bunch of good attacking moves from both sides.

Ok - This league closes at 8pm tomorrow night - Thats Saturday 27 June.

Currently Kiwisharp leads the league, with nzmofo, and Andrewmccaa in 2nd and third.

All of these players have some games in hand, so if you've not done so already, get online to finish your games, as your results could make the difference as to who wins this league.

To date only Terra NZ has finished all of his games - Don't forget if you can complete all 14 games, then you go into the draw to win something too.
