Preparing for the worst
Yesterday I wasn't finding a plethora of servers to join. I got scared.

What's going to happen when all the servers are gone? Will we be forced to play in tiny player hosted games? Is Homefront going to be so awesome we all just forsake Frontlines and let it die?

I have more than a few unused PC's lying around and it wouldnt be terribly difficult to set one as a dedicated server. Trouble is where does one come across the software to serve an Xbox game?

Maybe KAOS will make this available in the future?

Come to think of it why doesnt any company make this an option? It would solve a lot of the small match complaints and also save the cost of the company hosting its own game. Make available some sort of dedicated server shell free to download and we can set up our own. I'm pretty sure Half Life has the sort of thing I'm describing.

Edit to add:

Okay, I just read that this option does exist for the PC version of the game. Why not the Xbox version? Smileys?

Microsoft will never let you connect personal server to their networks. It will never happen and there is nothing that KAOS can do about it.

But isnt that what happens every time anyone hosts a game? All it is is a perpetually hosted large game.

Darn you M$!!!!

I suppose push comes to shove I can just go play FFOW on PC but I'd hate to be so selfish and leave so many others behind.

Yeah, but you're hosting the game with Microsoft equipment (Xbox) and not your personal computer.

There is hope!!!

Looks like some new shooter titled after low-income housing is implementing it.

Section 8 to offer user-created dedicated servers

Players will be able to download an application on their PC that will allow them to turn it into a dedicated server for the game. When playing on a dedicated server -- developer TimeGate will be hosting some as well, incidentally -- Section 8 will support multiplayer matches of up to 32 players.

If this is true KAOS can hook us up.

Dont forget that you cant see full servers, theres alot of people on the game these days. Im pretty sure Kaos will always have servers up as long as they are in business
