Interesting read from someone who saw the closed demo of HomeFront

Its on another game thread here

http://forum.teamxbox.com/showthread.php?t=622861

but here is what the guy said as copied:

"I sat in a private demo of this game at E3, and I was pleasantly suprised. Basically the gameplay footage was post apocolyptic a la Red Dawn, and sort of Fallout 3'ish while the action seemed on par with Call of Duty 4.

****DEMO SPOILER****

From what I could tell, you play as a character in a band of rebels in occupied
America. China seemed to be the enemy and they're on your soil. Rebels were living in battle torn subburbs off of wind power, while growing their own food etc..

The demo we watched started in one of these 'camps', and you were dazed. While coming to you are directed to follow what seemed to be the commander of this band of rebels. Touring the town he showed you how things worked, the pecking order and who everyone was. At some point you're in a building when radio silence is broken alerting the camp that the enemy is in route. Seconds later a convoy of (what looked like) Chinese soldiers and HUMVEE-like vehicles move into the camp (town) shooting at everything. The camp goes into evasive position and begins to counter the attack.

During all of this, I felt like I was watching Call of Duty 4 in a new setting. The animations, story telling and immersion was ... literally top notch. The commander (yelling over gunfire) tells you to pick up this add-on for you weapon. This weapon allows you to control an ground based unmanned tank-like fire fortress. You call on it, and by mistake it comes crashing into the building you're taking cover in. The commander chuckles and gives you directions how to move and fire this GOLIATH. You drive it into position, crashing it through the remaining downstairs portion of the home and give it the order.

What happened next was radical, by 80s standards. An automated high caliber cannon mounted atop the vehicle slide up the side and into position (think just like the vehicle from James Camerons Aliens) and begins to lay waste to the enemy.

The entire demo was heart-pumping in your face action, and NOT what I was expecting. I was impressed to say the least. If you find yourself thinking this is just another shooter but you liked COD4, do yourself a favor and pay close attention."

Sounds like everyone that saw the demo was extremely impressed.

Can't wait until we can actually get our hands on a demo.

For those who didn't get to see the demo check out this interview with the general manager for Kaos studios, David Votypka giving some brief details on the new "drama engine" that brings the action to you.
The 6 wheeled combat vehicle, Goliath, that Keen Paladin mentioned is also discussed with details on how it has its own AI letting it take its own path of destruction!

I'm hyped....but I worry about comparisons to COD4.  I prefer the epic style battles we get in Frontlines, versus the kiddie run-n-gun style I associate with COD4.  Give me Frontlines with Modern Warfare graphics....or sacrifice graphics for better gameplay!
!
I'm still hyped because I have faith that KAOS won't make a COD4 wannabe

I can assure you they are going for realistic originality, I cant wait for the story line.

Im pretty sure Dave took after Delise left, hes been there since Kaos started and was part of the original group that worked on their first projects.

Try saying Votypka, ten times really fast. I bet ya hes the one that created the sentry gun.
