Unable to play or even see .mp4's to stream to 360

Imagine3 12-13-2008, 3:24 PM
I currenty am using Windows Home Server to hold all my movies. Then I stream them through the Video section to watch. The majority of my movies are .avi but I just tried adding an .mp4. I know the 360 supports that file format but when I go to the Video section, that movie is not appearing in my list of movies. Any thoughts on why.

Does anyone know of a good conversion program that would turn the .mp4 into a playable .avi?

I'm having the same problem, the console doesn't even recognize files, let alone the folders my .mp4's are in.

What's the tech specs on your mp4 files as the 360 does support the files, but only when using certain encoding profiles.

Also as far as tools go it's hard to make a good recommendation. Each person likes different thing about different programs so I'd recommend just going to a good A/V site and reading around the forums there to get good info on media encoders :)

In my case I'm using Nero to create MP4s.  Not really sure what I am doing wrong still.
