Campaign Battle Fortifications EXP not as gimped as originally thought???
Mythbusters, FFXI style lol.

So....here is something I have found a tad interesting.

As we all know, to detour AFK exp’n on walls, SE made it worthless to go beat on the forts.

I have realized it to be about 1 exp per successfull autoattack hit higher than 0 points (dual wield and H2H attacks count as one per attack round, not two, even though you could hit it twice per attack round).

But....

Someone in the linkshell I am in has noticed something unusual.

So he was in Eldeme Nec{S} ( gonna type : <EN> from this point on). He fought one IMP. Then proceded to beating on the fortification for a long time (probably an hour or so). He got 3k exp.

Now as a comparison,  I have been to GC{S} and fought five imps with an NPC at my side in 30-45 minutes, and got 2.8k.

So decided this needed further investigation. So I went right to <EN>, and got tags. Saw someone fighting an orc and egnaged, realiazed it was a BLU failing at soloing it and thought he would fight it right next to 3 Campaign Freelances, so I sorta screwed myself. Anyway, I disengaged and fought an Imp flying by, Of course the BLU dies. and now the orc is pissed at me for hitting it for a whole 6 dmg. So while my toy and an NPC are fighting that IMP, I run circles around the NPC hoping it does some sort of AOE attack. Toy cures me once, then the NPC casts Diaga II. and pulls the orc off of me.

So back to the IMP. My toy and I basically solo it down to 1%, meanwhile the blu raises back up and fights the orc the NPC is fighting. When I get the imp to 1% the sneaky bastage casts some blu spell on my target and kills it. Super Angry [8o|] lol.

anyway. had I have killed it I would hae expected a total of 1.2-1.5k exp. But I didnt get the final blow. But since I didnt get the final hit,  I expected about 1-1.2k exp.

I engaged the fortification for about 10 minutes before the campaign ended, and got just over 1.5k exp...

So I cannot completely confirm this Myth, but it is Plausable.

My theory untill I can confirm is either one of two things:
a) Fortification EXP is ungimped when Mobs show up.
-or-
b) Fortification EXP is ungimped after you either kill a Mob, or engage one.

Further testing in progress. I will keep updates coming as I procede.
Alrighty then! God Bless.

Yea, you can get 3k for an offensive campaign, but its not from beating the wall. If all you do is fight mobs, 2k-3k is easy, if all you fight is walls 100-200 if you are lucky, if you combine the two, you can get 2k-3k...It has nothing to do with because you fought a mob 1st, it has to do with the fact that you fought a mob..the xp is only gimped when beating a wall...I have done this myself multiple times and tested the wall, the mobs and the wall+mobs and the mobs and the wall+mobs give you the same amount of xp.

Re: Campaign Battle Fortifications EXP not as gimped as originally thought???
hmm...
I still have to do a control test.

In <EN>{s} I’ve done a test with fighting two imps, and managed to solo them even as a 61 pup with the whm toy.

Actually, it was more like 2.5 imps, lol. Because one of the imps had two of its friends roll by and PL it from 10% to 50% hp before I could pull it far enough away, which is quite the task considering how quickly they reset their hate.

Then I fought the wall for 30-45 minutes.

When I got tired/bored I got a performance eval, and got 4615 exp.

Now soloing 2 imps, I personally would have expected 2-3k, not 4k+.

BUT----------------------------------------

Without doing a control, I really have no idea.

So... Therefore I will be doing the control next.

Unfortunately that mean soloing 2 more imps lol. Then sitting in a corner for 30-45 minutes, hoping the battle doesn’t end whilst chillin.

BTW, 4615 is now my person best record for one performance eval. lol. it was 3.9k er so as a bst75.

Updates to follow.
Alrighty then! God Bless.

Forts are pure gimp why you think beast control almost all the zones? The mobs are still worth nice exp but forget forts utter FAIL

Myth Busted

Ya I did control test this weekend. Solo'd 2 imps then sat around staring at the wall. I did nothing else.

30-45 mins later the battle ends and I get 4160.

Difference from control test and actual test.... ~500 exp. This was probably due to on the actual test, the first imp had been cured from 10% to 50%. and then the little bit of exp from the fort, which  probably was more like 100 exp er so.

I have soloed them imps as a BST75 in GC-S before, but don’t get nearly as much exp as I do with PUP62.  I think it’s like said before.... combination of curing, dmg dealt, debufs on mobs, status effect removal from toy and I (silena mostly vs imps), and dmg recieved....

as BST I only putting out raw dmg and pet dmg sponge. Pet usually tanks whole mob, and bst has some high vit or something, cus they hit me for nothin, if at all.  Usually averaged 1.2k per imp as bst. So I had assumed that was the expected. With pup its more like 2k per imp. and thats at 62! I can only imagine what it will be like at 75 and once I cap skills and all that.

Granted, a few months ago,  I never would have thought that soloing campaign IMPs in lower 60’s was even possible on PUP.

Busted. so...Nevermind.
Alrighty then! God Bless.

I thought you were testing to see whether or not the experience from attacking fortifications was gimped?

Seems like a better test to me would be to only attack the fortifications instead of the defensive mobs.

Re: Campaign Battle Fortifications EXP not as gimped as originally thought???
Attacking only the fortification is extremely gimped and most ppl I see on Ifrit won't even do it. They'll wait around to see if any more mobs are coming. If they don't see any they just go to the campaign arbitrator and get their assessment then leave the zone. This is yet another aspect of campaign battle ruined by idiots. The Bard song spammers already caused S/E to gimp WHM activities to the point where I rarely see WHMs curing and casting buffs on fellow players. I have a WHM75 and won't even consider going to campaign battle w/ it anymore.. It's just a waste of time thanks to the BRD bot idiots of months past. Now, attacking forts are pointless.

Reread your post, the only real way to distinguish that assumption is to fight one mob, and cease all other fighting once it is killed. At another time, you'll have to wait until all mobs have been cleared (or claimed) and then afk attack the fortification, as per your hypothesis.

Ya I already did that Yes [Y].

My last post describes the ‘control’ test. Busting the theory someone had told me.

Oh ok I see what you were saying. I misunderstood your post for saying the myth of gimped fort xp was busted, rather than the myth of ungimped xp after mobs etc etc.

Here's to comprehension. Beer [B]

Forts are pure gimp how many times we gotta say this? Just don't bother wasting your log time on them seriously ppl ignore forts & focus on imps as they are easy prey REGULAR CAMPAIGN MOBS = normal experience for 60+ jobs
