I'm trying to race with one of my friends on Live, but the lobby doesn't show the same races in each of our games. It's almost like we are on two different servers. Anyone know why we can't find each other or get in the same races?

there are some races that do put you in your own race, but you are in the same room thou, its only for downhill and drift GP races.

Not really sure I follow what you're saying. All I know is, my friend is in a race and I'm trying to find it. It's nowhere to be found. I went through the entire list, joined every race, and looked at the players to see if he was in there. The whole time we're talking on the headset trying to coordinate to no avail. When I search, I use the default option to search for any race available. Why wouldn't his race show up?

races are found based on host and location. but i know what issue you having, i had the same just kept researching using quick match after me mate set one up,

You need to make sure of the following settings of the room your mate is in..
What discipline is he racing in?
Damage.. On OR Off?
Race length?
Collisions On OR Off?
ETC....
If you can match as much of that to the info of the room your mate is in (get him to tell you over mic) then all should be well unless.... your mate is in a room with someone who you have technically blocked at some point,... then the room may not show in list. It happens....
Other than that there should be no problems,... we have to co-ordinate a room full in our team every now n then... so yeah,... trial n error til you understand it.

Make sure you have the "8-Ball PacK" .... if you don't ... and he does .... if there are 8 ball pack rooms, you will not see them.
