whenever i try to connect my xbox to my computer through windows media player 11, my xbox does not appear on the list of devices to share media with. how can i fix this.

Hey dude i had the same problem, go to start, then control panel, then click classic view, then go to administration, then click services, then go to UPnP Device Host and right click it then restart. this should fix it temporary until you restart your PC. then you gotta do it again to let it work thats what the problem i am having.

On your PC, make sure your network is set as Private, not Public.

you can also try TVersity though the interface isnt the same, it does allow you to share your media on the 360, their are other programs like this but since updating my pc & installing DDrm copyright protection file (by accident) from windows update I have been unable to share or even find my 360 through my network, TVersity was a quick way for me to solve that problem, since then I have played music & videos with no problems @ all, if u add new files to it all you have to do is go to tversity on your pc & refresh media library!

  I dont see UPnp Device Host on the list.

Is your 360 powered on when you are trying to do this?  Make sure that you try both of the things mentioned above.  It could also be a router issue.  Can you connect to Xbox Live fine?  have you tried running the network tests on the 360?
