Alright, well I understand that PlayOnline is a service by its selfo , and that if you have an account can play across all platforms. My question is where do I download it for the PC, so when I'm not near my 360 and on the go I can play?

From what I understand, it's not available for free download on the internet. You will need the actual game disks. You can install the game w/o using any CD keys (they are only account specific), so if you have a friend to plays on PC, borrow the disks from them so you can install it that way.

Once it's installed, just re-create your profile on Playonline and it will allow you to login, but understand all of your settings and macros are kept on the machine you set them. Meaning you'll have to re-enter all your macros and set your preferences.

Actually, you can indeed migrate you macros and configuration settings.

1st step, on your 360, when you are on the character selection screen,
click in and hold the left analog control stick and the left bumper.
a screen will pop up asking if you wish to save configs to the server, along with a save slot.

select your save slot..

To restore you would press the right bumper and right analog control stick

anyway, once you have saved your settings from the 360 to the server....
and after you have installed FFXI on a PC, to restore your macros,
when you get to the character selection screen press

SHIFT + ALT + CONTROL + R 


to save macros from PC to server it would be :
SHIFT + ALT + CONTROL + B

Relatively recent when put in context of the game as a whole...but not something that was implemented last month or anything.
