Can't Stream from PC

DINGY DINGO 06-22-2009, 11:56 PM
I did a search and came up with nothing. So I thought I would post.

I just got a Linksys Router WRT54GL. My PC and Xbox is hard wired to it with internet of course. My PC is running Windows XP SP3. I used to be able to stream stuff off my PC before I got my router thru WMP11. Now since hooking everything to my router, my xbox can't connect to the PC. Any suggestions or help?

Try - In your windows media player 11, go to > Sync > more options > library > sharing - open Configure Sharing. It should locate your 360 - click ( share my media to ) the xbox icon and allow. restart your WMP and 360. It should find your music. If this does not work try TVersity website for a free download that works great for music and video streaming. good luck

Thanks for the help.

BUT, WMP doesn't see the xbox and vice versa. There's no xbox 360 icon to click on.

I had problems streaming through a router because of the built in firewall in the router itself, after talkin to a few friends I bought a switch to elimate the router portion of it and it works amazing!  you still have to use the router though in order to use the PC and 360 cauze the router adds or splits the IP from your ISP so you still have to keep the router

dont mind the switch on the right, the main is where the PC and printer enter the switch then go into the bubble which would be the router then the router goes to the net

I had the same problem awhile back as well the switch is just like a router but alot dumber since it doesnt have any kind of features (built in firewall), I have 2 360's and they r running in 2 different rooms and due to it I can play online, stream music/movies all at the same time

Thanks for the switch suggestion.

I really don't feel like paying more money for more equipment and clutter.

Anyone else?

unless u want to spend a few hrs trying to open ports and closing them I would really get a switch and they r not all that expensive ( $90 for a 16port) trust me I spend many nights tryin to figure it out and it was like a lost cause

the other question is how much do you value you time?? cauze for everyone time is something
