Trouble with this game...on ACOLYTE lol

So I am playing on the easiest level and having major trouble. I find this game incredibly hard and am screaming more then when I played through Treyarchs nadefest WAW on veteran. I am on level 8 and am wondering what the best weapon to use is, I am btw only just getting by with spamming A+Y. I could use any tips because I plan on going through and beating this game on all difficulties.

There is no shame in that. The easiest weapons to probably get used to is the scythe. The a+y move is good for when you are stuck with incindiary knifes becuase it makes you invincible but using jump and then xxy with the scythe should tear up most enemies.
Could you also give us some more information on what is is your stuck on?
if olive oil comes from olives, then where does baby oil come from

The only weapons you really need to beat the game are the Lunar Staff and Scythe. Learn the Lunars 360 UT move and it's Izuna Drop and you're made. The Scythe's YYYY combo is a killer move too, especially on the Ch8 boss.

Actually if you're having trouble with going through Acolyte, If I may, I would suggest staying with the DS for the first few chapters since it's the easiest weapon to learn. Mastering the Izuna Drop, windrun, using shurikens, using UT's, OT's and then moving on to perfecting chaining ET's will be your best bet until you get the Scythe or the Tonfas. A simple level 1 UT with the Tonfas will take any fiend out. (I wouldn't recommend using the Tonfas on any Boss yet)
As you learn to chain ET's, I would practice more with the LS. This will help a great deal in the next difficulties. The Scythe is a great weapon for taking out multiple fiends on Acolyte and Warrior as well as Bosses while in Mentor or MN Mode, It will only delimb some fiends with a full UT. Yellow Lycans will always only delimb with a full UT with the Scythe while brown Lycans will fall dead.
Mentor & MN mode, Red Scythe Claw Fiends will delimb with a full UT from the Scythe while silver scythe claw fiends will fall dead. Same for white/grey ninjas while black/red fall dead.

I recently got stuck on chapter 8 where there is a house with inf respawn rockets and then to the right is 2 machine gun turrets i am confused as to how to bypass this part. I generally will land on a mine to be hit with auto rockets then get stunned by the turrets until the rockets start shooting again.

On the ground as you enter that alley is an arrow box, refill if needed and tuck into the wall behind the box, take the rocket ninjas out from here with lvl 2 charged arrows, some will be slightly to the left in the windows so you'll have to move out a little to get those ones, they do stop spawning eventually.
Once they are gone, equip the scythe, hold block and use dash to bypass the mines, they will explode but you will take very little if any damage as long as you're blocking, keep blocking while in front of the turrets and take them out with a lvl 2 charged arrow when they stop firing.
When the turrets are down jump up on the right side turret podium to pick up a mushroom if needed, then just go through the gate to reach the save point.

Just to note on your help a bit there nvrhere,
Take a look at the footprints in the snow..This is the safe path to take to keep from taking any explosion from the mines. With the turrets, you can stand beside either one and charge your scythe up and take it completely out. Wait for the brief pause of fire and run through the footprints and quickly stand beside either one and hold block while waiting for a single turret that is capable of firing at you to pause then, charge up to take the one you are standing beside out. Move on to the next one and repeat the process.
The rocket ninjas aren't that accurate on Acolyte so, you only need to concentrate on the one that is behind the sandbag barrier and you can jump to the cleared area and jump-flying swallow to the next area to face the turrets.

The problem I find with following the footprints is a slight veer off the path and you're taking unecessary damage, whereas the blocking method has rarely if ever got me hurt.
Thanks for the turret tip, it never dawned on me to take that approach.
