Parents,

Do you know what type of information is in your childs profile? Do they keep complaining that they got suspended for no reason at all from Live?
Alot of people, children and adults alike, seem to think certain content is okay when they put it in their profile. Then they get suspended and go on a rant about how unfair the system is. Here is a very useful article that will help answer suspension questions and harassment questions along with other useful tid bits every parent should know. On a side note I was online last night and came across several people whos profile I looked at, one talked about killing himself, one had his full name and address in his, and another had profanity in it. So do you know what is in your childs profile?

First off, thanks for posting this info. You are obviously concerned about this and that's why you brought it to the communities attention. I'd say that a lot of the parents that frequent these communities do monitor and know things about their kids gamertags, profiles, online behavior, etc. However, saying that, I'm sure there's a percentage of parents that may have not thought of that so you brought it to their attention.

On your side note, maybe you should email the guy that has his personal info in it and let him know why he shouldn't. As for the one with vulgarity in his profile, you should file a complaint as that is a conduct policy violation. For the other person you mentioned, I just don't know what to say. This person could be serious about that or they can just be seriously stupid to put that there to get a rise out of people. If it's real they need help. If it's a hoax, they need to have a complaint filed against them.

Yes, it's up to the parents, but that's what this thread is about. This thread is making parents aware of the fact that the content of their children's profile is important. They aren't telling anybody what to do or what not to do. This is only making parents aware, and from there, those parents have the choice of what to do with the information.

Why post a complaint. Just don't read it or don't respond. This is informative thread with a concern that the OP wanted to discuss and make other parents aware of. That would be why it's in the parents thread. For parents to discuss.

In answer to the original question, yes I know exactly what is in my son's profile. In addition to having all the parental settings on-- I have limited what information is on there. I believe that it is important to be involved in all aspects of our kids gaming, including what information that he is giving out in either verbal (mic) or written form.

I always read my kids' motto's , bios.. ...

I believe child accounts (if it is made to be one) don't have the option for these things (motto's and bio's, etc).. unless somehow allowed.

Based on the amount of wrong things you see in bios etc, its pretty clear that some parent/gaurdian's are not doing that.

I would bet that a very high percentage of parents do not know about the family settings!  Picture this - parent buys xbox.  Child is thrilled.  Child and his friend(s) already have one and agree to help set it up.  They create an adult account, and the parent never even knows anything other option exists.  Child then installs xbox in his bedroom. 

Its unfortunate, but I'll bet I just described the majority of cases.  I like the one where the xbox must be in the family room and a parent somewhere around when the child plays.

I do all the online things unless one of my son's friends is online(friend in real life) or a cousin. They sometimes mess with the bio and eventually I change it back but they never make it bad.
