Some tickets say they cannot be used? Also I read on PSUpedia that you can change your room drastically by using the AOTI Ticket once you come over to the expansion. However I started playing after purchasing the expansion so what would that mean...

Are you trying to use a ticket and it won't let you?

Make sure that all your room decorations are put away and buy one of the remodel tickets at the shop and try to use it.

Exactly, make sure you don't have any room decorations out.  Makes it a royal pain if you have a gacha or two full of items.  The items have to come out, the gacha has to be put away.  Same holds true for transfer tickets for some reason.
