I guess I joined the club. I have had the red rings 3 times in 1.5 years. I received my last refurbished peice of garbage about three months ago and now instead of the red rings I get this problem. Audio works fine but no video. I spent over 2 hours with different mangaers in custiomer support to come away with nothing becasue I bought my xbox over a year ago, and this problem is not covered by the extended warranty. Ridiculous. They keep sending me peices of garbage and now I am out of luck.

If anybody reads this thinking about buying and xbox 360 reads this. Do not. Buy a PS3.

I have to decide what to do. I think I almost have to buy another xbox because I have invested all the money in games and accesories. If I buy one I will buy it from a dealer who offers additional warranty, becasue you can almost guarantee that it will quit working at some point.
Same boat as you. I'm buying a new xbox from best buy and gonna try and trade in my broken one.

Re: no video but i have audio
Happened to me now.  Playing Fallout 3 yesterday the screen went green so we shut it down.  Last night I checked again and the video is gone.  I've got audio but no picture.  I swapped cables while crossing my fingers but no luck.  Damnit.

Re: no video but i have audio

So... I am playing Call of Duty World at War doing a singles match ranked 5th and I noticed that my screen was losing video in some sort of way. I just kept playing for about 1 month and it was fine just looked kinda wierd. Yesterday I was playing clan matches from 10:00 in the morning to 3:00A.M. and the screen got even worse. I turn on my xbox this morning and the screen went completely black and there was white dots on the screen like stars or snow moving side ways and at some points, stood still. I tried it on other T.V.'s and at ONE point it started working but then after that it did not work at all. I bought a new adapter to check if that was the problem and it still did not work.. Please find a way to fix this... SOMEBODY... just please find a way....

Ive just joined the club. Mad I just bought Gears 2 and World at War and now I have an expensive paper weight. My Box is now 3 months out of warranty because I got the ROD last year.  MS needs to take note that their system is crapping out on everybody and do somthing about it.

This happened to me this morning while I was playing CoD:WaW. What a joke! My Box isn't even anywhere near another heating source or anything else that causes problems! Why should be have to pay $99 for something that's obivously not our faults?!!

Well you can add me to the list a few weeks ago I was playing Kung Fu Panda(don't ask) and the screen started acting weird. I cut off the system for the day then the next day the black screen came up yet I could still here the sound of me moving through the menus. Also I tried on every system in my house and I'm sure thatit wasn't my cords luckily my 360 should be back from repairs today. Microsoft really needs to address this I hope this isn't the new RROD.

A) fix it yourself and from what I read online seems easy with the right tools
B) pay 100$ to micro$$$$$$$$$$$oft to fix it
C) get a new xbox like I did
D) no more xbox

The cheapest way to keep playing is getting $30 worth of tools and fixing it for yourself. But since your the cheapest loser i've ever seen, I guess you're going to go with choice D.

Well im not cheap, I have had a lot of payments that I needed to pay and im low on cash (only $121 on debit) and I have been recently cut down on ALOT of hours and I just can't afford $100 while i have other necessities. There really is no reason that they should charge $100 to repair a console that I bought and didn't break. Just simply a poorly built product and they *** expect me to pay THEM money to fix it? That's bullshit. They should repair for free, heck id pay S/H.

Macgyver could fix it for FREE with a stick of gum, pebbles, corn on the cob, and some Jiffy biscuit mix. I can't believe what a piece of SH** the 360 really is......fix it yourself? Why don't we all just build our own XBOX's that dont F*&^%$& break all the time!

Re: no video but i have audio
I had this issue about a month and a half ago playing Fallout 3.

I debated even sending it in to get fixed after hearing the issues other people were having with the replacements. I called up Customer Service and explained to them that I know they're aware of this issue and I can't and won't pay $100 to get it fixed. They transferred me to the supervisor and I got it discount of 50% off, so it went well. I still don't think I should have to pay to get it fixed, but I don't have cable and run everything through it (external hard drive, netflix, ect) so I have to bite the bullet. I was calm and spoke normally to the rep, so maybe it might work for you too.

Re: no video but i have audio
I had the same thing everyone has been describing, green video, white dots, hearing the audio, etc. I tried the towelie method several times for a couple days, and got the video back! I still have the green audio for several games, but yesterday I played L4D for about 4 hours and didn't have any video issues. I wouldn't do the towel method normally but my regular warranty was up several months ago, so I gave it a shot. @ bustosterone: I'll have to try this if my 360 really decides to kick the bucket.

Re: no video but i have audio
I am now in the same boat as the rest of you.  The colors went very saturated so I saved my game in Fallout and shutdown the console.  After giving it a rest for about 30 minutes I turned it back on.  In about 5 minutes the colors became saturated and when I went to turn it off and then back on (I was going to clear the cache for Fallout thinking the game might have glitched) I have no sound or video.  The controller still is able to shut down the console so the system is running fine.

Re: no video but i have audio
I don't know if anyone has posted this, but you can fix it yourself, either by using a stack of pennies wrapped in electrical tape/insulating tape, or by heatgunning the board underneath the gpu and ANA/HANA chip to the north of the gpu. It is the ANA/HANA chip that is causing the problem by a solder joint breaking similar to the 3RLoD problem. Simply placing the stack of pennies on top of the chip supported by the fan shroud should help. If not, the heatgun trick certainly will. Of course this will invalidate your warranty.
