Well I knew, I don't think nRAG knew...More on topic, though - if you follow your favorite team's minor league prospects IRL, who aren't members of the MLBPA and hence aren't in the game, you will find they have names with the same initials.  For instance, Troy Patton, one of the Astros best pitching prospects, is named Trey Patterson or something like that.

Cameron Maybin is on the Tigers AAA squad as I think "Charles Matthews?" He's a CF with an A- potential rating. I was impressed to see Andrew Miller in the game as well as himself.

Re: Fake players = Real players post
I was playing online with the red sox vs the NL. I used Dennis Miles(Dice-K) and when he went up to bat they said "here is Matsuzaka-san who came in from Japan" but called him Miles while pitching. Anyway I can change his name to Matsuzaka the whole time?

I forgot his name but the top ranked prospect in 2K7 on the Yanks is supposed to be Philip Hughes but he has a diff. name.

He is #80 in AAA on the game. Forgot the name, but I just changed it.

Is he gonna be in the game with the real name when they have the roster update or is he like Barry and doesnt belong to the MLBPA?

O.k., forgive my ignorance on this paticular matter; but, I was under the impression that being a member of MLB required that you be a memeber of the MLBPA?  I mean, isn't that akin to the Player's Union in that you have to be a member.  I know baseball, but I don't know the finer details of lisceneing and such.

Oh, sorry for the minor derail, I'm a curious type of person.

Players who have their name trademarked or copyrighted retain the property rights to their name, and must be paid compensation for it's use in publications for the purpose of sale.  Since 2k is in the business of making money, and don't really give a whole lot about what the people who purchase their product and play their video games think, they A) hope you don't notice or B) hope you don't care or C) know that you notice, and that you care, but aren't willing to spend the money to license player's names.

This first got major notice when MVP 05 was released...
