I just:
• had my console repaired • bought a new console • came over to my friend’s house • started using a separate console
and now my content isn’t working. What’s going on?
When you buy content on Xbox LIVE, you are buying a license to use the content on the console it was purchased on and with the Xbox LIVE account it was purchased with. If you are using a different console you will need to authenticate through Xbox LIVE with the account that made the purchase.
What does this look like on my Xbox console? Arcade games will show in Trial Mode only and Add-On content (such as multiplayer map packs, etc.) won’t load.
What content does this apply to? All content purchased on the marketplace (Games, add ons, themes, etc) offers both the console and user license with the exception of Avatar content. Avatar content is licensed, and available to, only the user that purchased it.
How do I fix this? For most people, the easiest thing to do is sign into Xbox LIVE using the account that purchased the content.
Well, I want all the profiles to be able to use the content. What can I do? First you want to try to redownload the content to update the license stored on your Xbox. If you’ve had your console repaired or have been switching consoles, you may only need an update. Check this out: http://support.xbox.com/support/en/us/nxe/xboxlive/xboxlivemarketplace/downloadcontent/redownloadcontent.aspx
I tried redownloading my content and that didn’t work. What now? This means you will need to transfer your licenses to the console you are using. You can use www.xbox.com/DRM to perform a transfer of your licenses to the new console. Remember, after the transfer is done, you will have to redownload the content to update what is stored on your hard drive. *Note: You can only use www.xbox.com/DRM once every 365 days. If you have any questions on using the tool or performing additional transfers, check out the FAQ on the www.xbox.com/DRM site.
I do things.
