i was thrilled to see tenchu 1 on the arcade so i promptly downloaded the demo to make sure it was all good.

 

launched up the game and noticed there was more than 2 playable characters and said to myself "oh cool you can unlock new chars to play it thats great" . fired up the first mission "assinate echiyoga (or whatever his name is) , everything was perfect.... then

I was severly disappointed as well. I thought it was a classic port of the playstation game, but they never released any screenshots so there was no way I could know. Glad I downloaded the demo first.

There were screenshots at least 2 weeks ago just it seems they were only released to the Japanese press, but several game blogs picked up on it. So I knew what it was and set my expectations accordingly. It's a Tenchu themed Trap Gunner knock off and I'm satisfied.

i didn't look at screen shots, just the achievements a few weeks before it came out. they seemed like it would be some expanded version of the first one since it didn't have 28 missions, but i saw familiar names so i thought it could be some new version of Tenchu Z crossed with classic Tenchu levels. so i bought it without thinking

now i regret that purchase. next time im looking at screen shots.

where is a REAL Tenchu game for the XBLarcade?

It still surprises me that people don't make more use of the Trial game option. I always download the trial first before deciding whether or not to buy it. Even if it was a Resident Evil game (my personal favourite franchise) I would check out the trial before parting with my points.

 

Funnily enough, I really like Shadow Assault Tenchu. But then I never much liked the Tenchu series. Says a lot doesn't it? A Tenchu game that wasn't made with fans in mind...

Tenchu 1's title was Tenchu: Stealth Assassins. Shadow Assault is a new game. I'm disappointed that Tatsumaru isn't it.

I like the idea of Tenchu trying to do the bomberman thing.  But they went about it the wrong way.  It's horrible.  I'm very dissappointed.
