Buyers remorse

This game is a prime example of the negatives of Digital Distribution. Flopped mainly because of the $10 price tag that alot of people weren't willing to pay (understandable, I was just happy it wasn't $15) and the several bugs pushed people away - but because this is the XBLA and MS produced the game, don't expect a permanent price drop anytime soon. A much, much smaller community than the Original Uno and I know they have been dissapointed by the sales, but MS would rather have one person buy the game at $10 each than four people for $5 each...

I would say its my worst purchase to date. I knew alot of people were unhappy about the price, but when I played the demo the day it released I had to have it, I won't make this mistake again just because I have points to burn...

Well put.  I like to see posts like this.  Don't be surprised though when everybody and their mama tells you to shut up and be grateful that Microsoft would "bless" us with such a great option to buy this game.  I know if it were 400 points, I would have bought it.  But as of right now, for 800 points I won't even demo it.

This was a part of the "Days of Arcade" promotion.  And for the majority of the games they release in their "promotions", they are all overpriced.  It is Microsofts way of trying to up the pricing structure while making it sound like the games are more than what they actually are.  They know damn well that the avid gamer who stays on top of things like the XBLA program is never going to pay 1200 points for a game like Flock.  So they give it extra promotional outlets and plaster it all over xbox.com and your dashboard. That way they can make up for those lost sales by letting the people know this game is available if they didn't closely follow the marketplace.  They see the advertisement when they turn on the xbox (that you are forced to see upon start up) and they check out the demo.  Then if 1 out of 10 people who try that demo, they start to make up that money because the pricing went up 50% on what it should be.

That may be what happened to you with UNO Rush.  Maybe not though, but you can imagine it happened to a good amount of people.  They like the idea of a new Uno game and since the first one was so fun, they figure it is ok to spend a little more on this version.  Only to find out that this game isn't nearly as popular as the first installment because not everybody is willing to support that pricing increase.  But the way the advertisements were flying around, you would have thought that this was the most anticipated XBLA game since Castle Crashers.  They then regret their purchase, and hopefully they decide to be more careful with their next purchase much like you are saying you will be.

Of the 71 friends on my friends list, 71 of them own UNO.  And less  than half of them own Uno Rush and the only reason I have so many friends that bought it is because about half of my friends are XBLA competitors who buy every XBLA game.  If the 200 points from that game didn't count towards the XBLA competition, I bet you less than 5 people on my friends list would own this game.

Anyway, that's my thoughts on this game and these "promotions".  It sucks you can't find a community for this game but at least you seem to realize that this games, along with many other XBLA games, it just a wolf in sheep's clothing.  Helping lead the way to more disappointed customers and lack of interest in the XBLA program.
