Board/Card Games On XBLA

theres been quite a few card & board games on xbox live now, which ones did you enjoy & which ones have you fallen asleep playing lol

UNO - this is the best one, easy to pick up & just really good fun, dosent hurt your brain at all :) 9/10

HARDWOOD HEARTS - my fave of the hardwood games, really addictive once you get used to the rules, fast paced and still a few users on live. 8/10

HARDWOOD BACKGAMMON - not a bad game just i found it pretty lifeless and boring to be honest, one to fall asleep to lol 6/10

HARDWOOD SPADES - i couldnt get into this game at all, disliked the rules & could never get my head round it,hence never enjoyed it. 3/10

TEXAS HOLD EM - i never really understood poker till i started playing this & it makes more sense now, really good laugh on live and a decent overall card game..and it was free!! :) 8/10

CATAN - i got this as a chance and glad i did, relaxing & intuitive board game, cleverly done and gets better each time you play & learn more about the game..bit slow on live and games take a while but still, catan rules!! :) 8/10

SOLITRO SOLITAIRE - dl the demo & had a go for a bit but nothing made sense & i got bored very quickly, maybe its a grower and it has alot of games to play as well,so for me,1st impressions not good, but who knows? 800s steep tho! :S ?/10

Re: Board/Card Games On XBLA
Uno - Bought this out of pure nostalgia. Used to play this so much as a kid. Had quite a bit of fun playing this online when it first came out, but there are some real jerks who play this game. Havent played this in a while, but still a great game. 8/10

Hardwood Hearts - Havent played it yet. Not really a Hearts fan though.

Hardwood Backgammon - Havent played it yet, though I spent alot of time playing Backgammon with my Uncle a long time ago.

Hardwood Spades - Havent played it. Not a fan of Spades.

Texas Hold'em - Have been playing Poker for over 25 years and was really looking forward to playing it....and for free! Really is a fun game, but has a few bugs. And this game has one of the worst communities I have encountered on Live (and I have been on Live since the original Xbox). What is it about this game that draws all the wanna-be gangsta's (if I hear "Yo, dawg, you just got smoked" one more time from some geeky little white teenage boy......)? Trash talkers on Halo have nothing on some of these idiots. Still a great game at the core though. 8/10

Catan - I had never actually heard of this game until it was announced for Live. I had played quite a few board games somewhat similar to this as a kid. Games like Kingmaker. I really enjoy this game. Havent played online yet though, because I cant beat the darn CPU on medium difficulty yet. Figure I will head to online when I can beat the CPU on all difficulities. But the game itself is great! 9/10

Soltrio Solitaire - Have always loved solitaire games. WELL worth the 800 points to me (and I am a cheapskate when it comes to spending my points, believe me). Only a couple complaints. 1. It doesnt keep track of win/losses per game. 2. Some of the games are ridiculously hard. Still, its my favorite Live Arcade game released so far. 9/10

Bears, Bulls and Cubs through thick and thin.

Re: Board/Card Games On XBLA
There's a LOT to like about Uno, but most of it is actually in the demo. It sold ridiculously well, though, because it was a damn slick product combined with the price point well within most folks' impulse buy range. The makers of Uno should be proud. Especially the dude who does the ditty during normal gameplay.

I have Arcade Unplugged, so I own Texas Hold 'Em and Hardwood Backgammon as a result and not so much for seeking them out.

Texas Hold 'Em isn't free anymore, and as a Silver subscriber, I have a tough time recommending it. It plays out pretty slow, and ain't pretty. Maybe online adds more.

Hardwood Backgammon is quality backgammon. If you like Backgammon, why not? (Though it took a PATCH to expend multiple movements in one pick-up and drop? SHAME!)

Catan is pretty nice, though I really expected better from the Uno folks (Were they the Uno folks?). The PC version of Catan vs. AI put out by MS Casual Games was a lot slicker than that. A LOT. Though I cannot really judge it because I just hate Catan. I don't get the love for it. I played this game before, and it was called Risk. I have better things to do than throw dice in lieu of a competition whose outcome actually requires some effort or skill from the participants.

Haven't played any of the other games, and if I had Live and DIDN'T have the versions that came with Windows, I might consider Hardwood Spades and Hearts. Solitaire was a fun time and pretty well designed, as was Backgammon.

Please, though, guys, some song selection? I like the Solitaire theme and all, but just a smidge of variety would be nice. If you could yank in the Uno theme.... :P
