Game Complete.
This is day two or three of me owning Ikaruga and I finally completed it. Amazing game, glad I bought it when  the deal of the week was going on. I was hesitant because everyone said it's so hard but it's a really great game. Now that I beat it (solo) I want to work harder to get the other achievements. Love that game. I can see why a lot of people were having problems with it on Stage 1 and 2. This game is for more experienced gamers who have dealt with games like this in the past such as classics. The last battle = epic and overall this game was pretty simple for me after dying and retrying over and over. Practice does make perfect.

At first I started off not being able to complete Level 2, getting stuck there and all and wanting help but now I can play a full play through all the way to the last stage and complete it. I learned very fast and I'm proud of it, the game wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Too bad their isn't an Ikaruga 2 or anything like that :P
Wow, I never would have thought I'd get into this game, it seemed like another Galaga, you know. But this game is addicting and great, it's so much better then any galaga looking shooter like this, this doesn't even fit in that catagory. It should have it's own, it makes you want to keep working until you get it perfect. This is a must buy for experienced gamers but I suggest making sure you're good and extremely fast with your eyes and thinking ahead of time.

Great game, must buy for anyone who doesn't have it.

My wife's Japanese, so I tend to lean toward those types of things...this game included.  Anyway, I THOUGHT that when I got killed at the end of the second level, I THOUGHT I'd start passed the first or at the beginning of thesecond, the next day.  Uh...no.  If this is the way the game is, starting from the beginning every time, re-title this thread...GAME I CAN'T COMPLETE.

It really isn't that hard, you just have to train yourself to be quick with your thinking and your eyes.

At 60 years old...my "quick" was used up YEARS ago, along with that "thinking" thing too.

Ah, well then Ikaruga wasn't a well purchased game for you. Being born in the Mezasoic era also doesn't help much, I guess. :P jk

Actually, it was just a little after the Mezasoic period.  And I know you were "jk".  Being one of the "senior" gamers on XBL, does have it's drawbacks.  And you're probably right about buying the game.  I just wish there was a "save" on it, so I could pick it up, where I left off.  But my hat's off to you, for being able to finish it.  Yes [Y]

Re: Game Complete.
With a little practice you'll be able to do it. I think it would be a waste if you gave up now since you purchased the game. So if you need help just look at this thread I made. Hope it helps.

Thanks for the link.  I'll put it to use.  As for giving up...I won't but I won't be playing it for 8 hours either.  I generally play arcade games because the others, usually make my BP go up.  Later!

Well you never know, if you don't give up and you keep playing it you'll rack up on more continues by the hour, before you know it you'll be completing the game maybe even before 8 hours.

When you say it's not hard, how exactly were you playing the game?  Were you blasting senselessly at enemies with no rhyme or reason? Did you increase your live stock and the amount needed for extends? or  were you trying to chain the whole level with the default live stock?  Generally, these type of games are meant to be played with the scoring system that is created for the game.  Its not to say you have to play it that way, but that is where the challenge comes in.  So, yes, if you just play for kicks its very easy but if you play to chain its very challenging.

and the most common misconception with these games are that they are way easy...when you constantly continue.  Try 1 coin crediting the game.  (:

No worries, I will get better and try the 1 coin credit achievement sooner or later. If I can do most games on professional mode and complete Mile High Club on Veteran in COD4 then surely I cannot be beaten but such a game like Ikaruga.

I  too bought it when it was deal of the week. I am glad I did. I was hesitant at first because I am not that great at these kind of shooters. But I do enjoy them. I am glad I bought it. It is a fun game.
