This game WOULD be really cool. WOULD. But the glitches are simply unacceptable.
The glitches are causing so many freezes for us that the game is nearly unplayable. We have to save every five minutes of play or risk the entire system freezing up and losing all progress we've made. We also have to save over multiple save spots because after one of the first freezes we encountered, it also corrupted the save file. We had to start again from the beginning.
The benefits to coding for console games over PC games is supposed to include the fact that a standardized setup allows for less glitch. The fact that you are coding for systems that are identical should allow the developers to overcome these problems. A little playtesting could have shown that this game had serious problems that needed addressed.
As it is, i'm glad that I rented this game instead of buying it. If I was a professional reviewer, I would have given this game a 8-9/10, had it not been for the glitches... And the glitches would have lowered the review to a 4. I couldn't justify giving an unplayable game any higher than a 5/10.
This is a problem that the video game industry needs to take much more seriously. A lack of polish on a game can absolutely ruin the experience. Considering most gamers don't impulse buy- they try demos or rent the game first- the industry loses a lot of potential cash by releasing games with glitches. It's especially disturbing when the game could have been a really good game- as is the case in Path of the Furon.
