Uhh, Splash speeds up the same way as most other tetris games. Every 10 line clears. At least in single player. Not sure how it does it in multi-player, but I do know that is definately NOT from the height of your lines.
Evolution online play is dead. You can barely ever find anyone to play against.
Whenever I'm playing a local versus match, it always speeds up once the height reaches a certain point. In past versions, it would speed up as you passed the different levels. In Splash, if you get about 75% of your screen filled, it speeds up like crazy, even if you haven't cleared many lines at all.
It without a doubt plays differently than any Tetris I played on NES, SNES, or even N64 (including Tetris/Dr. Mario versions).
