LIVE child accounts under 13 years old unable to play EA games online

Due to an age restriction, you may have issues playing EA games on Xbox LIVE.  The error you will see is:

“Thank you for your interest. We're sorry, but you are not old enough to access online content. Please continue to enjoy all the other great features in your game.”

Why do I receive this message?

The Xbox LIVE account that you are using is set for an age under 13. To access the online features of their games, EA requires that an account holder who is 13 or older signs a "Terms of Use" agreement. Since the account age is under 13, you won’t be unable to connect. This issue only occurs when you use games that are published by EA.

Why does Microsoft have different age restrictions just for EA games?

This is not a policy of Microsoft or of Xbox. It is a policy of Electronic Arts.

Can I change the age setting on my Xbox LIVE account?

No.  The age setting for an Xbox LIVE account cannot be changed after the account is created.

What can I do in this case?
Use a different account that has an age setting that is 13 or older – If the age setting is incorrect on your LIVE account and you have another account that shows that you are at least 13, use that account to connect to the game on LIVE.

Create a new account – If you entered an incorrect date of birth when creating your LIVE account, a new account must be created that contains the correct date of birth (13 or older), in order to play the game on LIVE.
