Hello everyone,

We regret to inform everyone that the Chromehounds online service will be closing on January 6, 2010. At this time, all online components for Chromehounds will no longer be accessible and the game will only be available for play in Offline modes.

We would like to thank everyone in the Chromehounds community for their passion and support over the past 3 years of service. Please enjoy the remaining time with the game.

Hell yeah, I've waiting for this so I can get back to beating it on hardcore. It wouldn't be so bad if the game had any value in single player mode or if it had a co-op mode. MP is where this game is at, and that's it.

C H does not have a critical mass of user that many current games benefit from, but it still has a cult fan base. It sits very uneasy with me that this current gen console title will be scrapped.  I, as a fan, think closing the servers on this game is an abomination.

And I think the opposite is true. this community is merely a shell of its former self. Each passing day the servers stay online its legacy is tainted a bit more. Its like watching Brett Favre trying to make another comeback.

I've heard somewhere that there is an agreement between Microsoft and developers/publishers that users are entitled to all content and achievements within a game...but I've also heard a lot of other things :(

I love Chromehounds, it was the first 360 game I got into with over 1000 hours of play...built so many hound designs... fought so many battles... met so many cool gamers who I still play with to this day... such a unique online experience, too bad the single player is to horribly lame and functions as a tutorial for the online component... I will miss it greatly.

I like the Brett Favre analogy..agreed.  It's sad that such great multiplayer games really do have a limited lifetime.  It's really just the nature of what online gaming has done to these games.  When new things come along or money is needed to develop new things, the old things just fade away or dry up.  Best we can leave this is that "it was great fun while it lasted", and it lasted quite a while.  I'm only sorry I wasn't able to enjoy all it had to offer.

Yeah, when it was launched, they time-released weapons specific to certain nations. Made it extremely novel. I remember when I first used a heat seeker while everyone else had other conventional weapons. It was funny as hell.

So I guess there'll probably be a surge of gamerscore fanatics looking to get in some last-minute achievements, like myself. But at least it'll give me a reason to play the game again.

This is sad to hear but with the Chromehounds community growing ever smaller it's probably for the best.

I thought crap like this only happened on PSN. Oh well, I have lots of great memories playing this game. I made a lot of good friends too. This is a shame, but I guess nothing can last forever.

gamer score aside, I just want to fight the super weapons for the experiance! (the real world kind, not the RPG kind, you know like doing something cuz it's fun?)

Lets face it, shadowy pupet master (ie boosters) put a harder dent in the game's over out come then the average player skill and population of each nation (just like real life, eh?) so the last week they should set it so that all battlefeilds are open to every one, reguardless of routs or capture points and that the super weapons are deployed full time.
Gamer score would be nice, but first and formost I want to have FUN. Many gamers these days forgot that's why games were invented! Getting gamer score it pointless if it's not enjoyable, I get enough of a grind between work and classes, I don't need that in my games too.

I just picked up this game yesterday for 5 bucks and thought I would give it a try. Loved it. Too bad I can only enjoy the online portion for a little while. All I hear is everyone wants every game to be on a dedicated server and I think this is a perfect example of why that should not be. To kill a part of a game that still sells a few copies here and there and still has gamers online is just wrong. People still play as I had no problem getting a game lastnight.

I've been looking for an excuse to put Chromehounds back in my 360 and seriously start playing again. Time it seems can be a strong motivator.

Guess I'm going to play Chromehounds more often now...  Such a shame because I actually like the more realistic approach to mech combat as opposed to the fast-paced action in Mech Assault; though I like MA as well.

THIS is what is lame about dedicated servers...which is why I'm glad the majority of XBL games rely on P2P connections as opposed to dedicated servers.  At least with most other games, so long as one other human remains with a copy of the game, you can still theoretically play that game online.

its completely up to us to not let it die. Tell a few friends about the game. Its cheap now and they should pick it up, or buy it for them. I just bought three copies and gave them to a couple of friends. They love the game. I am also new to it, I bought my copy the same time that I bought theirs. Its a fun game and I hope that they dont shut it down. Bring the numbers up and I bet it stays open. We have all three just bought the add ons from market place.  We obviously had no idea that the servers were shutting down, but if there are tons of people like use noobs, it can only help the argument to keep the servers open.

All this is very true, but for the bigger picture this is an argument against server host. They simply should not make games server host, because as the company changes its mission, goals, ownership, or otherwise decides to shut these servers down, we lose out. Why? Because they are taking a piece of what we used to own with our $60.00 price tag, never to return.

Youi should get everyone you know plays chromehounds online and play it constantly so this won't happen because I litterly want to get a chance to play this again. And they have to make a second one now, but this time you get all the parts, but have it set up like Mercenaries. to where you get to do missions for cash to buy the parts.

Noooooo.... Good GOD! Noooooo...

Why, or yeah so they can make room for another Armored Core game. A game like that will need more server space.

I just bought this game because people said it was a blast online and now they are shutting down the servers? I was looking forward to putting some time into this game but 4 months may not seem worth it.
