Say what you want to yourself, I know I have.  And like a dummy I'll keep playing it to finish it.  But it's not a good reason, mostly because I paid full price for it 60 bucks, buying it when it first came out.  I even waited for a full weekend when I could really enjoy it since my job keeps me from playing games for months at a time.

This post is just a vent of a huge disappointment.  How I so much wanted to join the legion of Silent Hill people starting with this one and wow, too bad for me I guess.

Go ahead and slay me now.  I know I'm not the best gamer but I usually can handle something reasonable.  All I was asking for here was a health kit now and then.  I even accepted the spaced save points.  Thanks for listening, I truly wish I could be more positive, I just don't see it.

Hey guys I just want to be clear and then I'll shut it.  I've played games back in the '70s that were hard.  I guess sometimes my expectations are too high.  One of my friends and I have discussed this, he programs in C and Pascal for a living and I in Visual Basic.  I think honestly, business people put these games out to sell them before they are ready, and we have to deal with it.  Most likely the software people are not to blame.

If you've had a good time with Silent Hill then bravo.  I will keep trying because I love the story.

well I'm 46 so yeah I mean '70s stand up arcade games like Star Castle and Tempest, etc.  I'm just glad, as mad as I was, I didn't give up on this game.  This is the one game where I would actually go back and buy old consoles just so I could see what the other games in the series was like.

Don't give up on it.  My first playthrough was a disaster. I got as far as the first boss battle and could NOT get past it. I was out of health, out of ammo, no first aid kits, and no serums.  I was forced to start over.  Like you, I'm a decent gamer so I complained in the forums about the lack of save points and the difficulty of the game.  I licked my wounds and started over.

Knowing where the save points are, knowing I could run back to a previous one or fight forward to the next one, allowed me to save much more frequently. Knowing how to fight and how to dodge helped. Knowing the fighting tactics of the monsters helped. Knowing that I should save my health and ammo until REALLY needed helped. My second attempt at first playthrough was much better!  The game grows on you, it becomes more and more fun as you progress.  It ended up being one of my favorites.

Give it a chance!  Plus, you WANT to get your money's worth out of it.

2/75 Hooaah!

this game drove me insane,
started playing thought it was ok. got to the hotel started liking it then i had the glitch.
i couldn't drop down a floor to get the postcard.
i thought that i had done something wrong and went back looking for thing, watching reviews.
spent hours trying to fix it but decided to restart. got back to the hotel in a few hours and got the postcard easy.
this really annoyed me knowing that it was a glitch. after that i didn't enjoy it and found it a chore to play but once i completed it, i was quite gutted that i didn't enjoy it all because of a stupid glitch and lack of save points.

Yeah I have a friend who is diappointed about no invert also.  No, I think I just had a hard time with the controls originally.  I guess I've gotten better over time which is a surprise since I'm older than dirt.  But yeah, I left it at a good save to come back to soon, fought a couple bosses already so I'm jammin' on it now.  This is great because I love spooky games or at least creepy, and this has both. :)

I like the game, it can not hold a candle to Silent Hill 2 but no horror game since than has been able to.  I just wish Homecoming was longer... it's way too short for a SH game IMO mostly bc the puzzles are far to easy and you cant change the difficulty of them either.

Well it's your own opinion, and  no one should insult for that. My own opinion for the game was that I was a bit let down. Too many are following the same trends. Look at Resident Evil 5 and Silent Hill Homecoming and you will see similar combat styles. I am a HUGE silent hill fan.

i liked it only because i liked the other silent hills plus actually being able to aim added fun to it. and to anyone who didnt like it-at least it wasnt as bad as silent hill 4, i mean c'mon, ghosts? what where they thinking?
i beat first run through and only really had trouble on the nurses b/c u didnt want to waste ammo but they where faster then u. I'm on my second run through with the 2 secret weapons. Silent hill 2 still the best

The thing is guys, and this will be the case with most people, we're remembering all the previous installments, paticularly Silent Hill 2 with rose-tinted glasses.  Sure it was an awesome game back in it's time, still is now especially for a survival horror game.  But say it had just been released now, people would still be lashing it with criticism compairing it to other, previous, popular games.

This Silent Hill was made by a new western development team.

I can understand it being too easy, but what do you mean when you say you wanted more health kits and save points? If you say the game is pathetic, I'm expecting you to have beat it in an hour or something...

But anyway, I don't think it was that bad.
The only major dissapointment I had was that the endings were based off of story button options, whereas in the old Silent Hill games, you would get an ending based off of your performance and in game decisions.

Well after reading your post it was obvious to me you hadn't skimmed through the thread.  You would have realized I pretty much gave a full reversal here.  Sorry for the confusion.  I guess I have to suffer the embarrassment for each reply posted.  No worries, as of now I'm already on my second playthrough and loving it.
