Story AI is BS
Just as the title shows. I am soooo frustrated with story modew right now. I hate the 3 person matches anyway and I am currently in the match with Rilara and whats-her-name at the land of the dead. I have tried this like 10 times with 4 or 5 different books. I was 1 turn from finishing it last time and OF COURSE Rilara pulls just the right card to kill my highest level 5 territory. Then on my turn I land right on the other cepters level 5, pay her and she moves next and wins the game.

I just shut it off after this last one. I had a tokebi on fire, storm avatar on water, and the unique red/green guy all on level 5 territories of their element. fontaciel (i think thats her name) senilities my tokebi, rilara lands on it and kills it. i go and land on fontaciels level 4. she lands on my unique red/green with migoal and of course pulled a wind rapier (+30 attack)... kills him.  rilara then lands on storm avatar and kills him with just about the same combo.  in one turn i lost all 3 level 5's... AND had landed on not just their highest territories, but on the Dark Shrine and it cursed me so I couldn't even summon creatures to fight!!!

This game is sooooo frustrating. it's like playing monopoly and you own the whole darn board with hotels everywhere and they never land on anything you own until you've had to pay house repairs, sell everything and mortgage it!

This game would be great if it weren't for the cheap, cheap AI. I would buy it for my friends but i know if that happened to them once they'd be done. And here I am trying and trying when I should just say *** it and give up too!!!

This might help: the AI really struggles with Kelpie, Charon, and Mirage, and movement spells just ruin the AI's day. If you find a particular AI character is using lots of enchantments or damage spells on your creatures, pack a few untargetable ones (Cait Sith, Pegasus, and Grimalkin are all terrific for this). Hope this helps!

Re: Story AI is BS
Thanks for the tips. I don't think I have Charon yet. Looking forward to it though. sounds cool.

I've developed a deck that can womp the computer on this stage. It's Rilara and Diarna btw... not Fontaciel. It's basically shapechangers (the one who randomly changes(, chameleons and a couple cheap immediates and then a bunch of multi element creatures. I also have a couple gold Idols to negate the summoning requirements and then the idol that blocks duplicate creatures. as long as i get that by turn 3 or 4 they can basically no longer summon or invade. my issue now is that the last 3 times, when victory was assured my game has frozen a couple rolls from the castle. lol I just can't get a break!

I have stopped using movement spells in favor of mana generating and big creatures.

Re: Story AI is BS
I just got this yesterday and I've been mixing it up with an fps I got the same time (helps ease the frustration) but it does seem like the AI's luck is stacked.

I made a support deck with walls and squirrels and stuff that got me rather easily to the fire map in the peace talks which is the one I saved for last.  I don't know if this battle would be the same if I'd done it differently but its incredibly difficult but it feels like the AI.  I roll low and the AI's lap me repeatedly on the map and there is just nothing I can do.  I have NEVER hit the shortcut tele, I've seen them hit it like 4 times consecutively before.  I tried making a movement speed deck with all low mana cost stuff to try to preserve myself till I finished the lap but its not working.  This map seems to require lap speed above all else.  I've very much considering grinding the other levels to get cards so I may stand more chance because these games take so long, and long before the end, I know my fate.  So I just stop and retry but I mis my small bit of cards for the loss by doing this.

Re: Story AI is BS
Once you figure out enough rules and tricks, you'll find that the AI is really easy to beat, regardless of its luck. Simply put, the AI often makes bad decisions. I lost a few times on the early maps, but by the 5th map, I had learned enough that I never lost another game to the AI, even though the opponents I was facing were more difficult. At 1st I started with a Green/Red oriented deck, but after I won a couple of the trials, I reluctantly switched to a Blue/Gold oriented deck because of the powerful multi-element cards I was getting (e.g.: storm avatar). That type of deck was more than a match for the AI. I usually have the following build for my decks ... - 20-25 creatures - 6-10 items - 15-25 spells

Re: Story AI is BS
I will admit that I don't know what all the effects do and thats causing me problems.  That time I came as close as 8k to 9k but I'm farther than the 5th match and I just don't have enough cards to be color specific yet but I am mostly green.  Thanks for the formula on decks though.  That will come it handy.  My current one doesn't have many items, 2 in fact.  It runs on support and walls so items seems sort of useless.  The only spells I have are all my movement mods and mana mods and 1 disenchant.  I've seen good spells but I don't own any.

So far this feels more like monopoly than any CCG I've played but its still fun.
