I remember when you reviewed another game for this system. I liked that one too.
While IU isn't a "bad" game I do find it "meh" at best. My main issues were that there were too many characters with not enough developmment in any of them & that Capell was a whiny moron. You can't even use the Luke Skywalker analogy with Capell since he really doesn't come into his own, I'm actually expected to like & follow this type of character? To be fair I don't always want a Jrpg main to be a cross between Sherlock Holmes & a Clint Eastwood character, but I do want some reason to like & follow them on their journey. Also while you get the impression that the world is big, it is so linear that you really can't explore anything.
I could go only on but my IGN player review speaks better for me (Kaz01 there). Maybe I'm getting a bit jaded on Jrpgs, but I would like to see some of the variety that the western counterparts have. As examples:
- What if you could have chosen a "skill set" for Capell at the beginning of the game? Say one where he's more weapons focused, another where he's more an item maker, & the 3rd where he's the scrub he is in the current game.
- Multiple endings anyone?
- More open-ended world anyone?
But I get off subject, great review .
That which is manmade has within it the seeds of its own destruction.
