OMG, Random Battle Hell
so many random battles, I thought I'd never make it out of the sewers!
I like this game except for the random battles that occur much, MUCH too frequent for my tastes...

You'll be thankful once you get to the final boss. Unless you exploit the casino, you'll still have to grind quite a bit for the final battles, even with the frequent random battles.
There is an item/spell that prevents random battles though.

I'm only 15 % into the game lol, the final boss is the last thing on my mind, where do you get this item that prevents random battles, I don't mind some but the frequency on this game reminds me of the old SNES RPG's, and just how to exploit the casino?, I think Bingo would be the most fair out of the games Idk.

Re: OMG, Random Battle Hell
If I recall there's an item at the Casino you can buy, then sell for more than what you paid, use the extra money to get EXP.

The skill to avoid random battles is called "Encounter Evade". It's a Support Skill you can learn at the Casino. Although I can't remember if it's on your first or second time to the Casino.

If you need help with any other Skills, I have them all marked down here.

"Encounter Evade" wasn't available the second time I went to London City, I'm currently at the resistance hideout, maybe on my 3rd trip to London then, I sure need me some anti-random battle relief ASAP!

Trust me. You want as many random battles as you can get. The last boss is extremely hard and those battles you had to do will help you in the end.I actually found this useful telling you to level up.

I appreciate the advice but:
there are only 2 things I hate about this game, 1-the English spoken dialog which I remedied by by selecting Japanese, and 2-too many random battles which I will remedy as soon as I can buy this Encounter Evade, if and when I feel the need to level up I can always remove it can't I? it would be a skill no? removeable at the character menu screen?

Re: OMG, Random Battle Hell
Do you have the VP cut skill?  (I think that's what it's called)  Anyways, just equip that on Atsuma, who has the highest vp, and remove everyone else from your party.  Then whenever you have an encounter, just run.  You won't lose as much vp, and you won't lose any from the others.  Just make sure that Atsuma's strong enough to take a hit if the enemy strikes first.  You could also make sure he has a high speed parameter.

I didn't get the Encounter Evade till the end of the game, didn't know about it or an easy way to get chips at the casino.

no, no VP cut skill, first I ever heard mention of it, can't buy it at this point in time either, so I should just suck it up then, I won't get encounter evade till darn near the end of the game-I'm already at 44% progress, so almost half way done with the story, helping rebuild London City ATM, I guess I'll just thread lightly and maybe take a break from the game if the battles continue to get on my nerves, at the very least the story seems to be perking up!

I know they can be annoying, but even with them all, you'll still find yourself grinding at the end of the game just to make your primaries strong enough for the final battle. You'll literally get to the end of the game and still only have half the stats you'll need for the fight with most characters.

When I got to the end, I couldn't survive the queen's special attack.  Especially Atsuma.  Luckily I saved just before the point where it says you can't go back.  (just before going up the long set of stairs to fight the Ice Queen)  I had skipped all the temples and ignored the golems that asked for god weapons.  So, I went back and did everything I had skipped, including the holy beast shrine.  I suggest doing it last, being it requires completion of the temples.  By this point you should be able to find double sp, exp, and encounter evade skills in the casino.  Here's a tip.  Beat all the golem battles then play roulette.  I would save every time you can come out with more chips than you had.  I'd bet between 100-1000 chips on the 1st 8 numbers and again on red.  The first eight being either numerically or on the top row, excluding the zero.  Eventually I could actually stay in the game even while losing being that I could get most of it back in like 1 win.

55% into the story, was on my way to the Ninja Lady's Village after being turned away at Kyoto's gate, I moved like 1 inch on screen, and again, and yet once more, 3x in a row wham!, bam!, random battle!, I calmly removed the game from my Xbox360, enough already!
I need me a break from all these random battles-seriously I can't take it anymore...
I have other games vying for my attention, I'll get back to this game some other time, I can only hope, as it was getting good.

Re: OMG, Random Battle Hell
running away from them makes you lose VP, ending up with characters that have 1 HP, and 1 EP, it was easier to run away from the game!
I will get back to it eventually-I know that much, as I really do want to know how it all turns out.

Re: OMG, Random Battle Hell
You could always buy some vp recovery items.  Like I said before, just have Atsuma in your party and no one else.  He has the highest vp.  And, 100 is the amount the item recovers.

Hmm I dunno I made it to the end of the Sewers with over 50% of my VP left, did you equip Wave on Atsuma when you got the skill? Have you been using SP to boost everyones Parameters? Have you made some better golems? I'm in London now at Lv9.

k, so I played some more, I'm at 77%, en route to the sage after beating the earth devil golem, now I think it's time for another break lol, I will definitely finish this game eventually, just not as fast as I would have liked due to frequency of the random battles.
now to Arkham Asylum!

I do try to keep Atsuma in tip top shape that isn't my gripe, I have 3  great golems, apo apo, sasquatch, and marlin, at first I didn't mind the random battles, but after a few hours I was starting to loathe them.

P.S. I appreciate everyone who has given me advice on this forum, it's just me and my issues regarding the frequency of the random battles, again thanks for your input guys!!

I recall FF8 having a ton of battles as well. But at least your HP and EP heals after every battle.

Re: OMG, Random Battle Hell
Okay, hope this helps: VP cut cost comes in Junk city about 30 ish percent through the game, you trade 200 speed gems to get this skill. Second, Encounter evade is only available after you beat the lord of earth (something i wish weren't true DX), Sniper shot is a very good move to get after you beat the emperor of fire for it greatly reduces hp of enemies. If you don't know already, the holy beast shrine is near junk city: while in junk city, check your map and find the junk city rock pinnacles, follow this path to the holy beast shrine approach. The holy beast shrine is one of the best places to level especially if you have double exp (around 20k per battle) i highly recommend getting and leveling calabaza golem cuz he has the spoilsport skill ninjas have, only it does tons more damage >:). Calabaza can really help if you are in a tough battle cuz spoilsport hits the entire enemy group for about 500 ish damage at level 1 ( i think). Hope you don't throw the game at a wall XD

Re: OMG, Random Battle Hell
...I managed to get to 93% of the story done, saved twice, and purposely got the bad ending on one save just to not encounter any more random battles for now,  maybe someday I'll finish it properly, but just the thought of grinding for several hours of more random battles to get the 'good/happy ending' doesn't appeal to me at this point and time-anyhow back to my other games.
Thanks again to everyone who posted to help, I never would have gotten as far as I did without the encouragement!

there are no more random battles after toya battle, once you get to queen of ice, all of it is story battles. the hardest ones in game though.

Re: OMG, Random Battle Hell
there might not be anymore random battles per se, but I'd still have to get my team high enough to survive the oncoming ones, meaning I'd have to go and purposely look for random battles to increase my partys stats, and frankly after looking up the "good" ending on youtube-it can wait.

once again thank you for your input!
