Was this an arcade game before? The graphics are awesome!
Was this an arcade game before? I love the graphics!  Everything looks so slick, I'm assuming it looks way better than the arcade game ever did.

I'm pretty sure these games were in the arcade. I do remember them being ona  variey of consoles too but yea, the animation is awesome, especially when you are a zombie.

Yes, these games have been around in the arcades on NEO-GEO systems for over 10 years now. There are six in total and a 7th one on the way to the DS. There is also the compilation which has all six games on the PSP for $20, and different compilations on other systems. Metal Slug is one of my favorite game series.

I dunno how the original arcade ones looked but i know that this one looks alot better than the other platform releases. If you check out a screen from metal slug anthology the edges just lack that smoothness and everything is rougher. Small details though, this game's animations and detail are top notch no matter what system they're on.

Metal Slug is and probably will remain the best hand animated action game ever.  Plus, you just have to give it points for style.

Re: Was this an arcade game before? The graphics are awesome!

yep it's an arcade game originally appearing on the Neo Geo MVS arcade system.  The 360 version has a small visual effect on the graphics but they are, essentially, the original graphics and annimations the original had (just with a visual filter applied).  seeing as the opriginal ran at 320 x 200 res this is the only way they would look half good on a big telly.

The Neo Geo rocked as an arcade system. TONS of memory for it's tiem and very powerfull.

Oh, and if you like MS3 try to play the first one.  It's smaller and more focused but the humor in it is brilliant!

Yes these games along with neo geo games in general have been around for a LONG time, hence why I used to play my mame32k emulator for so long. Personally I liked the arcade graphics better because they were more crisp, unlike xbox how they just layed a 'smoothed/blurred' texture on top of it. But oh well  just hope we get the rest of the series!

Did you like MS4?  I found that far more "challenging" than it was fun!

This version, along with all the other console versions look 'ok'. This game looks best on an 'arcade monitor' - not your HD tv's. Hence, the arcade version looks better! Much better!

Ya the graphics are sweet! I love old games because they have so much more detail in them.

By the way, if anyone is down for coop by all means send me a friend request.
