Any Other Noobs?
Meh, idc if your noob or not as long as your noob friendly.. or just friendly in general.  Add me and look me up for a game.  I would prefer to find some other new players to clash with so its not just me vs old school vets.  If anyone does add me, a msg mentioning culdcept would be nice but I'd prolly accept the friend invite anyway.

Oh, I'm a night person so I tend to play late

Sure, I'd be happy to play you. One great way to hone your skills, build your collection, and learn all the cards is to play Blind matches (that also takes the collection size difference out of the equation). Of course, it's best to set a Blind match up with others beforehand, as most people don't search for them. See you on Live!

Re: Any Other Noobs?
Great.  I thought when I first read that blind matches were in this that it would be fun.  As for my built decks, I only have 1 I'd risk the shame to actually bring into a live match.  The others are just half formed ideas that I don't have the cards to complete.

Edit: Oh, this is lithium, this is just my alt profile.  When I log into my other email, it changes...

Re: Any Other Noobs?
I have 3 months of playing time now, so I can't be considered a noob, but I don't mind playing with noobs and offerring some advice if they want some. There are ways to "even" things up so even noobs have a fighting chance. For example, a 4-way match on a small map doesn't require a suffisticated strategy or an advanced set of cards. As for blind matches, you're still at a great disadvantage as you'll be unfamiliar with most of the cards in your deck while your opponent likely knows them reasonably well. Still, you can learn a lot from blind matches. Alliance matches are also good for noobies as your team mate can help you in more ways than one. Unfortunnately, blind matches and alliance matches requires finding people in advance and agreeing on a time. People generally play ranked standard matches.

Re: Any Other Noobs?
too bad, I like the 2 on 2 matches.  As for knowing the cards, I don't have them all but I have beat the single player mode.  I don't think that gets me out of noob status but I think I've seen most of the cards even if I've only scratched the surface mostly as far as learning the combos.  The single player helped very little except by forcing me to know the abstractions of the rules.  I did see some combo possibilities in the ai decks (that the ai never used) but lacked the cards to build on them at the time and now I've forgot.  The ai was also incredibly stupid (if clairvoyant and extremely lucky..) and posed almost no challenge after the 4 element maps.  The stupid ai was good tho since the matches take so long.

As for blind matches, disadvantage or no, I think it would be fun.

I like 2 vs 2 as well. I've only played 2 team games :(, one of which was a blind match. If we can get a couple of other players, we might be able to arrange an alliance match.

We had an Alliance league awhile back. Single-elimination tournament, since it's really difficult to get 4 specific people together at the same time. It was pretty awesome. 2 vs. 2 really enables some wild strategies. :-)

Total Noob here.  Barely scratched the surface of the campaign.  Once I get a decent deck going I'll be up for some online play though!

Keep with the campaign. It's long and sometimes boring (3-way battles get old really quickly), but there are cards that can only be obtained through the main quest.
If you're on the far left or the far right of an argument, you know what you've done? You've gone too far.

I really liked the campaign, but online play is much more fun. There are many interesting deck/strategy ideas out there that you'll face and can learn from. When you get a bit more comfortable with how exactly most of the cards work and how all the rules work, you'll be able to construct some interesting decks of your own.

Yeah, the computer even taught me a few things while playing through the campaign. Like the Debility (ST = 0 to target creature)/Lunatic Light (Swaps target creatures ST/HP values) combo.

I did want to mention that most of the folks who've been playing this great game for a long time are more than happy to help players new to the game, so don't let the fact that it's been out since February 2008 deter you from diving right into the online play. It's great fun, win or lose.
Big Smile [:D]

I recently constructed a Lunatic Light oriented deck. There are many ways to get the ST to 0 so Lunatic Light can vanquish a creature. In my deck, I use the spell cards Debility, Wall Transform and Statue to set me up for Lunatic Light. As for creatures, Cockatrice and Medusa can be used to transform the creatures you are attacking into creatures that have 0 ST. If you play against Rupia in versus mode, one of her decks uses a lot of the cards I mentioned above, but unfortunately the AI doesn't execute the strategy very well and the other cards in that deck aren't very good.

Wow!  How do you counter that?  (ST=0 and swap HP w/ ST)

Currently my strongest card is the Brontides.  I used the shield w/ the stats ST = Fire Creatures in play x10 and HP = Forrest Creatures in play x10 and got my HP up to 230!

Phantasm. The HP number gets copied onto the ST, but the HP doesn't change. :-D

Also, untargetable creatures stop it cold. (Cait Sith, Grimalkin, Pegasus, etc.)
