This may seem obvious to many of you, but it bears repeating:
DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, GIVE SOMEONE YOUR WINDOWS LIVE ID AND PASSWORD.
- No one from Xbox LIVE will send you a message asking you to "verify" your account.
- No one from Xbox LIVE will threaten you with a suspension if you do not supply details about your account.
- There is no "server at Microsoft" that you can "trick" into sending out someone else's Windows Live ID and password by sending yours to a random email address.
- You will not get any prizes, Microsoft Points, or other goodies for giving up your Windows Live ID and password.
I am personally asking all of you to tell every one of your Xbox LIVE-playing friends about this post. It's really simple -- treat your Windows Live ID and password like you treat your bank card's PIN number: never give it out to anyone, and make it very difficult to guess.
And finally, a message to those of you who send these type of fraud/phishing messages to other players:
- We're watching.
- We're listening.
- When (not if) we find you, your accounts will be closed and your console(s) will be banned.
- So cut it out.
Thank you for your cooperation.
