As some of you may have heard, Halo 3: ODST’s release date has been broken by several retail stores in certain regions, and while the release hasn’t been widely broken by any stretch of the definition, a very small number of people have been able to acquire early copies of the game. Contrary to what some media sites have reported, it has been confirmed that users who purchase early copies of the game from legitimate retailers will not be banned from Xbox Live. However, since ODST’s official release date is still weeks away we must ask that you please refrain from linking to any videos, screenshots, or other leaked content. Any threads found to contain leaked content will be locked and/or deleted, and discussion of how to obtain an early or leaked copy of the game by any method is also not permitted. That said, videos, previews, and other information from Bungie and Microsoft, reputable media and gaming sites, and events such as the Gamestop Truck Tour are of course still welcome and encouraged.
In addition, as we approach ODST’s release date it is inevitable that campaign spoilers from both official and unofficial sources will begin to exponentially increase. If you wish to discuss the game’s story that is perfectly acceptable, but when making a post please clearly state that it includes spoilers and try to avoid mentioning the spoiler itself in the title. Remember that the definition of a spoiler is not universal, and what you may consider acceptable to openly discuss another user may consider a huge spoiler, so please be considerate and stay on the side of caution when discussing aspects of the storyline.
