VF / Tekken crossover?
Over at Sega.com forums, there's talk of a VF/T crossover.

Sounds like a neat idea. Years ago, I thought of this idea, but
back then, Tekken was only on Sony consoles.

Vs: VF / Tekken crossover?
Remains to be seen. So far the interest has only been on Namco's side.

Finland
Virtua Fighter player since 1995.

Re: Vs: VF / Tekken crossover?
I have been wanting a Tekken/VF crossover since the playstation and saturn days. That would be awesome. And with the tech available today, it would be very possible. Some people have scoffed saying the two fighting systems are too different, but i say OPTIONS is the name of the game. Think of it. Give full control of HOW the game will be played to the players. Tekken vs. Vf using Namcos control scheme OR T vs Vf using AM2's scheme OR let each fighter (namco or sega) use the control scheme native to his/her game. More work to balance all this out? Yes, of course. Possible? Absolutely! With PC gamers having so much control in their games as to how the game will be played I dont see any reason why in this day and age, console gamers cant have the same.
Of course, we will have to get Namco and Sega to agree....lol..that to me is the BIGGEST hurdle. But hey, if capcom and snk can play nice, why cant these two? Finish up your VF 5 Remix or VF6 sega...finish up your Tekken 6 namco...then bring us all the dream match we want.

PS: and hey, if DOA wants to butt in..i say let'm....=)

Re: VF / Tekken crossover?
How about combining all of the old fighting series
into one massive tournament? Let's see:

Virtua Fighter
Fighting Vipers
Tekken
Battle Areana Toshinden
Street Fighter
Mortal Kombat
Ninja Turtles (from TMNT Tournament Fighters)

Too much?

Re: VF / Tekken crossover?
A Tekken/VF cross-over would never work. VF is way too complex and sophisticated. Tekken revolves around button-smashing and is less technical. It would be a weird mixture really. Like mixing Need for Speed gameplay with Gran Turismo.

I disagree. I hear what your saying about the game differences, but impossible? no, not really. Like i stated in a previous post, its all about options. Also, while Tekken isnt as "deep" as Virtua, it's FAR from the mindless button masher some people make it out to be. More user friendly? Sure it is. Can you get away with button mashing and win? Ya, you can, more than VF, but a good player will still always beat out a noob...badly too.
Ya, it would be alot of work working out the balancing issues for the games, but it wouldnt be impossible. Its been done before:  Fighters Megamix for Sega Saturn. It combined VF and Fighting Vipers...two very different fighting games. They had options for two different fighting systems in the game, and it was balanced pretty well. If AM2 could do it with the Saturn on CD's, I dont see why it couldnt be done on a 360 or PS3 on DVD's.
I am not reallyl holding my breath for it to happen, but if it does, and they get the gameplay right, I would be the first in line to buy a copy.
