Same problem, playing CoD:WaW, green shading, white dots. This happened about a month after I had the "Unreadable Disk" error.

Well, you guys can ad me to the list as well. Started yesterday with green saturation and now I get the blank static screen. Microsoft had better give me a damn good discount  for this. It's not fair that we paying customers, who have shelled out hundreds of dollars on the system, games and Xbox Live have to suffer, just because they wanted to beat Sony and Nintendo in the next gen game console race. We should not have to pay $100 plus dollars for a problem that is not our fault.

I'm gonna call them and talk to them as soon as possible. They had better own up to this problem soon. They are already in a lot of heat for the Red Ring of Death.

Same thing here, my xbox 360 elite started to show no video last night. I was playing GTA IV and the image got bad (distorted color). Now, as I said, the console is not showing video anymore. Just in case, no red lights with working audio.

I have a plasma screen hanging in the living room with a monster component cable, got my xbox360 back from repairs (had a rrod, got refurbished) and now after a couple of weeks of happy gaming, i am not having video anymore, only audio.

Strange thing is, I also have an old-school CRT tv upstairs and I used it with the standard video cable that comes with the xbox in SD instead of HDTV, and I AM  getting video as well as audio.

Also tried a different xbox360 from a friend on the plasma screen, and its working with the monster cable and HD video no problem.

Could it be that a refurbished 360 has HDTV issues?

Well, fortunately when I bought the damn system I also purchased, shall we say, a little insurance along with it. You see, I bought mine at Wall-Mart and for an extra $28, I got a 2 Year Product Care Plan which covers Parts and Labor costs. So I'm gonna get mine fixed at one of their warranty repair centers at no cost to me. I am SO glad I bought that care plan with my system. Best part, it doesn't even expire until May of 2010. I hope everyone else has good luck getting their systems up and running. Microsoft had better own up to this soon. Customers are already pissed for the Red Ring of Death.

Same thing here.  No video/ have audio, I left it siting for about 2 weeks and hit it with duster (can of air) and it worked all the suddent but picture was yellow with blue bleeding, turned it off hit it again with can of air and i get "not supported mode again"  I called and complained/asked for supervisor and told them I have over 65 games and have had 7 xboxes, demanded 50% off the 100$ they gave it to me without hesitation making me belive that you could probably get the whole thing waived.  Also, cant u just claim red ring, send it in and then once they fix it they'll send it back, they can't like hold ur box hostage and demand money after they've fixed it, and they are going to once you've sent it to the reapir depot weather it's a RRoD or just the GPC lead-free solider melting off the contacts,  has anyone tried resoldering the connection themselves?  Easy/hard?

I tried to set up my new arcade via hdmi to dvi and got sound no video but thru the av cable everything is fine

I was playing GOW2 and suddenly there I got several artifacts on the screen & occasionally some red noise. I rebooted the console and there is no video anymore although I have audio & the console appears to boot OK.

placed an order for a new xbox although I was tempted to switch to another console... hope it doesn't happen again!!

Yeah my Red colors went on HD, so i bought a new cable nothing happened.  Then my screen went black but still audio this is CRAP.   They better start fixing this stuff for free.

Same thing happened to me a few weeks ago luckily it was on a refurbed still under warranty.Shipped it off and went and  bought an extra arcade console luckily it was jasper...crossing fingers

Happend to me sunday night. Noticed when i was playing Cod 4 last week, that the screen colors turned green.  didnt pay no attention, just thought it was this old tv. Go to turn it on sunday night, and get a black screen with white fuzzy lines. Tried new cables, and 2 different tvs in the house. Called MS and my warranty was up, so they said it will be 99 bucks to repair. Dont know what im gonna do yet, since i dont really have the extra cash right now for repair or a new console.

I was playing Fallout 3 last night and after, maybe an hour, the screen started getting distorted with tinted blue sections appearing on the screen. I turned the console off, thinking the vcr was just being difficult, and didn't try again that night.

Today, I turn it on only to be greeted by the start up sounds of the 360, minus the picture. I checked all of the cables, making sure all sides of everything were plugged in correctly. They were. I swapped out the av cable to check if my ps2 would run, and everything worked just fine with that, so it's not the tv or vcr + I'm pretty sure it is not the 360's av cable. I'll try to borrow a friends and check that. I don't know if this is the same problem, but yeah, any assistance would be appreciated.

I googled "xbox 360 audio no video" and found several possible fixes.

1.) Towel trick. By the sounds of it, I don't want to do that at risk of overheating something that shouldn't be over heated.

2.) Something that involves disassembling the 360 and *** around with stuff that I shouldn't be allowed to even think about *** with. Something to do with the x-clamp?

3.) Pay $140 to microsoft for repair. Not at all appealing.

Any other ideas would be well appreciated. Thanks

Just a quick update to everyone. after hrs of searching i found a few things. This will not fix the color problem, so its not rally a fix, but im just gonna use this till i can get a new system. Basically a quick rundown, video went out a few days ago, after the colors going haywire on cod4. Well what i did to fix was to leave it on for a few hrs so it warmed up. then shut it off, and when the console comes back on, Hold the right trigger button + y and you will see the screen flash. This brought back my video. now when i left it off over night and back on it did the same thing. This time i did the right trigger +y and it took a few tries, but it eventually got video back. Like i said this is just temporary, and you will still have distorted colors. Just thought i would post this to whoever was in the same warranty boat, and is going to eventually get a new system anyway.

If this is happening to a lot of people then how come we have to pay them +$100 to get something they screwed up on fixed? That ain't right. Is this going to be the next RRoD? Are they even aware of the problem? They should be, right?

The same problem happaned to me while playing Gears of War 2. It started with weird graphical issues like the game turning a light green while playing, then it stop outputting video altogether. I think it has to do with the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) being disconnected to the Motherboard due to overheating and faulty soldering. If Microsoft would just read these discussions once in a while maybe it would have some ides in what the consumer wants that provide Microsoft's its profits.

Yep exactly the same thing has hapened 2 me. I was playing cod4 and it went with funny colours so i turned it off nd back on and i had no video but still sound.

Is everyone that is getting this had to return thier unit for the RROD? The rrod happened to me about a year and a half ago.  I had to Return my Xbox again about 6 months ago because the CD drive was not reading disks anymore.  I am wondering if this is happening mostly to people that have a refurb 360? 

Either way, It happened to me with the weird green and washed out colors, and then loosing video, but still having sound.  Reminded me of  2 times when a video card in my computer burnt out and had crazy colors. .  Each time replacing the video card and everything was fine.  So has to be a video card failure of some sort.  To everyone that asks how to fix this, just call support.  Tell them you aren't going to buy a new AV cable when they ask you to, because it is not the cable!  We should be getting this fixed for free, as it seems to be happening to as many people that get or got the rrod.  Tell them you are going to buy a ps3 if you don't get it for free!

Oh yeah, by the way, it happened about to weeks ago, on January 8th.  I called support on the 9th, and sent it out on the 10th.  As of right now, they are sending it back probably monday.  So being right over the 2 week mark, im sure ill getting it back about friday or monday of this week.  About 3 weeks turnaround time right now.  1 whole week in repair!

April Fools!! Ahahaha. Bro, they test your unit to make sure of the exact error it is getting. So unfortunately saying it has the RRoD will not get it repaired for free. They will not even call you back, you will have to check your e-mail to find that your unit is just sitting in limbo, then BAM, at your door will be lying your same 360 you sent in, unfixed. This is posted here in the forums by a Mod, and the Customer Service team will tell you the same thing. It is unfortunate but unless you call in and let them charge you, you will be waiting to receive your exact broken unit.

I posted on here about a week and a half ago about this issue. My video had finally went dead. Got a first gen system, and microsoft wanted 100 bucks since there were no red rings. Took it upon myself to repair, and performed the xclamp replacement. So far I have played a few hrs, and the colors are fine. I only recommend this if your machine is out of warranty, and 2 dont want to send ms the money to possibly do the same thing i did in little over an hour. Just wanting to let everyone know that this worked for me, and am very satisfied.

Yeah all this happened to me but worse no audio as well i was playing halo with my mates and im like **** my xbox has crashed so i load up my pc and they are like wth why are you just standing there

Had same issue with the green tint. (Looked like green rings all over the screen.) I did not want to tamper with it and paid them the $99 dollars. 2 of my boxes each with RRoD and now this. I am a loyal Microsoft customer and I enjoy their software but their hardware is not very good and this problem appears to be as common as the RRoD issue. I dont think I should have had to pay for this fix since its obviously a defect.

Add one more to the list.  About a week and a half ago I was playing Left 4 Dead when I noticed the green tint.  A few days later I'm playing Fallout 3 and still have the green, so I turned the box off and back on and it's gone all black with white lines though the audio's perfectly fine.  I tried it the next day to show to someone and it came back on, though still with the green tint.  The next time I turned it on it was back to the messed up video.  Has anyone made any progress on getting this fixed on MS's dime?  This thread goes back two years- they should recognize this as a hardware error by now.

I'm having the same exact problem as well. Have you tried with another AV cable? I was going to call a friend and ask to borrow his cable to try it tomorrow. I just hope it's not a problem with the console and it was just a problem with the AV cable. Anyone have and idea of how much the repair would cost if I had to send it to MS?

I can't beleave i've spent the last four months without my 360 because i thought i killed it by smoking (like i did with my first XBOX) and didn't want to waiste money buying a new one when i would probably do the same thing again, then i come on here to find that its not me! its the box!

I had this same problem and i called Xbox and they wanted $100, so i tried going to the bbb (better business bureau) website (www.bbb.org), which i think was suggested in this thread. I filed a complaint online against Microsoft Xbox, and within 2-3 business days of the complaint, Microsoft Customer Service called me and offered 75% off the price, so i only paid $25. I got it back today and instead of fixing my xbox, they gave me a new one.
