Re: Betreff: Re: No Audio at All post-NXE for HDMI connection to BenQ G2400W Monitor (via headphone jack)
Yeah this is bull crap. I just now have this new 32 inch HDTV I set up the HDMI cable that comes with 360 to set up with. The result is great picture, but NO audio.

I'm just glad I own a PS3 with Killzone 2. At least I can fully enjoy the best game out on ANY console right now with true HD and great sound. I hope Microsoft likes losing the console war in the soon future and they can 100% know I won't be buying a new Xbox console this generation or any generations to come thanks to this BS.

I should just make a youtube video of me taking a steamy dump on my 360, because that's all it is worth to me now with no sound for HD.

It's March 2009 and still no fix. How cool is that. And the best thing: I wrote an E-Mail to Customer Support last week. Guess what: they never heared of that problem. So they had to call me back about 3 times, check their databases and ask their collegues. Nothing! No one has ever heared of the problem so they let me go through the usual support routine for the 20th time ...check your cable ...check your monitor ...CHECK my a**.

Oh after the 4th call or so they said that whatever the problem is, they are working on it right now and they will inform me as soon as any solutions are available..... yea yea...

Re: Never had problems until AFTER the Feb. HDMI update
So this is weird ... and I'm posting it in case it helps MS figure things out. I was posting complaints a few pages back about how my Vizio was recognized as a PC monitor (with no audio) after the February update.

Yesterday I bought a 120GB hard drive and did the transfer process. When I restarted the system with the new drive, it told me there was a system update available. I thought it would have moved over the latest system updates from the old drive, but I guess not.

So I downloaded and installed the February update again (which is not usually possible). And this time – everything works. No problems at all.

Cue Microsoft recommending 120GB hard drive upgrades as the solution in 3... 2... 1...

Yeah it would be nice to see an updated.  Of course since no one can see anything being out put from their 360s they will have to make it so we can download a file and burn it to cd.  Of course this will have to be a boot cd so it will just start up and install the update (heck let me go back to the update before the Feb update at least then I can use my xbox again while they work on a new update to fix the problem).

I'm connected via HDMI and lost sound about 2 weeks ago. It didn't happen right after the first or second NXE update.
Sound is gone and GFX are low-res (640x480).

Is this the type of problem you guys ran into? I'm trying to figure out whether I'm having the same problem or maybe my cable is ***.
Did all of you have HD graphics with no sound?
Currently I'm having this problem every 4th or 5th reboot - no sound and no HD graphics.
When the sound is back, the graphics are ok.

Thanks in advance

It seems my problem is linked to this one :
since my Xbox was updated to NXE, I have blackout problems when watching Transformers in HD DVD...

Blackouts are very short and appear randomly, between 10 to 15 times during the movie.

I'm living in France and using HDMI connection to a Philips 37PFL7662D/12 TV.

I hope the upcoming upgrade will also fix my problem !

Same thing happened to me yesterday. Had my new arcade set up through HDMI, turn on system yesterday and resolution is set to 640x480. I try to switch over to 1080p says not compatible but resolution changes to 1080p with no sound. Reboot xbox and sound comes through. Real strange. Hope this doesn't happen often.

I too have lost all HDMI audio after updating at the weekend.

Component connection works normally, but over HDMI I get no sound, the picture defaults to low-resolution, and the Display Options shows PC-type resolutions (eg 1440x900) rather than HDTV resolutions (1080p etc).

I was going to take it back to the store and exchange it, but if it's affecting other people, maybe I should just use Component for now and hope MS come up with a fix.

I don't get it. The problem is likely all the HDCP ***, but why do games require it? I know there was some lame quantum singularity rules for movie output, but why does a game console need to *** with HDCP to begin with? It doesn't play BD and HD-DVD is dead.

Just thought I'd add my voice too. Still issues with my HDMI cable connection to my tv. Using component for now instead.

My tv is a 40" samsung 40a686.

Very frustrating and disappointed enormously by the lack of support from Microsoft. Seems customers are not their priority.

I also have this problem ever since the last update.
Think Microsoft really need to pull their finger out on this one.

You aren't the only one that just lost his sound. I just turned my 360 on the other day and I lost all sound through my HDMI connection, and I've had it all along, up until last week :( Is there any way to delete this latest update?

I've tried all the fixes I could find so far, including the Y + RT at startup, taking the HDD out and reinstalling it, and a brand new HDMI cable that just came in today. I do have audio through the component connection. Seriously Microsoft, how hard can it be to get one issue fixed? Just go back to what worked. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Ok, I just got done trying every sequence of unplugging cables and turning the TV on and off. What I did first was go to System Settings > Memory > then press Y, X, X, LB, RB, XX, which does "system maintenance". All this apparently does is delete some of the patches and the cache of whatever crap it stores over time, but no saved games or achievements will be lost!

Next, I unplugged the HDMI cable from the back of the 360, turned my HP HDTV off, plugged the HDMI back in to the rear of the 360, waited 5-10 seconds, then turned the TV back on and voila, I have sound again! Suh-weet! I hope this helps, and I'm not sure if it's necessary to do the "system maintenance", but it definitely loads the dashboard a LOT quicker!!!

I don't want to make this thread any longer than it already is, but I'm having a similar problem.  I'm trying to use a HDMI splitter to send video from one 360 to two HD TVs.  This works except that the 360 thinks the splitter is a computer monitor, and doesn't send audio over its HDMI.

Same symptoms as here where you no longer have the video options of 720i/720p/1080i/1080p but instead you have computer resolutions.

I think a simple solution would be if a update was made that let the user specify exactly what video options they want instead of doing all this auto-detecting which doesn't always work.  I haven't contacted MS yet, but I figure they'll just tell me to not use my video splitter.

What splitter were you trying? I got a simple Y-splitter form Monoprice.com before. It works, but it's a little flaky. Sometimes only 1 monitor will come up, so you have to play around with reconnecting things. I've been planning to try a powered one from there, but I haven't felt like spending the 30 bucks.

This HDCP *** is evil and completely unnecessary. :(

Yeah it looks very similar to this one

http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10113&cs_id=1011303&p_id=2522&seq=1&format=1#largeimage

but I got it on ebay. Definitely going to replace it with a powered HDCP spilitter/switcher.

HDCP is and always has been a terrible idea.  It's preventing legitimate consumers from using their products and has not prevented a single pirate from doing their deeds...

Same Problems here. Xbox is connected via HDMI and no HDTV-Resolutions only PC-Resolutions. I think the Problem is, that I downloaded the last System Update with an VGA Cable Connection und now the Xbox thinks it has a DVI instead of HDMI Connection. I have no idea what to do.

I have a Samsung AV-R720 reciever and my XBox also thinks my reciever is a computer monitor and I get no audio.

Works fine when hooked to straight to my TV (Samsung PN42A400).

What gives?
