Commonly Asked Questions:

Q: How do I use 3 tanks of Nitrous?
A: Hold down Y+B at the same time, the Manuel also says Left+Right Triggers for default settings, although I don’t recall ever changing mine.

Q: I keep Sliding out of control on corners, how do I fix this?
A: You may not be use to the style racing. Try using a machine of mild or standard drift. (Mild being the easiest) Preference will be different for users so don’t be afraid to experiment.

Q: How do I Drift?
A:  Do as followed:
            1. As you head into a corner, steer into the direction of the turn. When your machine starts turning, temporarily release the accelerator.
            2. Your machine will now start to slide sideways. To regain control of the machine’s movement, steer as needed in the direction opposite the turning direction while reapplying the accelerator.
            3. If your machine comes out of the corner facing the direction you need to go, you will be able to smoothly accelerate out and away.
Remember practicing is good.

Q: I’m stuck on a certain race, how do I get by this?
A: Select Global Time Attack, the choose the “Global Rankings”, download the ghost data of a top ranked player for the track you are stuck on. Now race the ghost to pick up hints and tips to use to get past the level you are having troubles with.

Q: How do I Unlock the Pac-Man Games?
A: Play Races 77, and 102-111.

Q: What is the little gold ring next to people Gamertags online?
A: This is the Loral Crown; it means they have completed the World Xplorer.

Q: I completed the World Xplorer but didn’t receive the achievement for doing so why?

A: You need to complete the World Xplorer with the nitrous aid turned off, but in the races you are allowed to use nitrous.

Q: How do I tell if I’ve completed a race with the nitrous aid on?
A: In the World Xplorer, it will have these “bunny ears” on the routes icon, indicating that you had the nitrous aid turned on.

Q: I cannot find the demo in the marketplace, why?
A: The demo is only available for the US and japans market.

Q: How many cars can I unlock online?
A: You can unlock a total of 23 cars. 1 car is awarded every 10 races(win or lose). This continues on until your 230th race.

Q: Are the Achievements Easy?
A: Very few are, your looking at difficult or time consuming achievements.

Q: Does my distance travel only count in the World Xplorer?
A:  No, it counts from all game types including online battles. Just be sure to save often (quit back to main menu)

Q: Online will I be limited to the cars I have only unlocked?
A: For the most case yes, if you don’t have the car you cant use it, however the host has the options to set it so everyone must use the same car, setting you at the same advantage.

Q: How do I unlock Heihachi’s announcer voice?

Achievements and Hints:

36 Achievements
1000 possible points
Achievement Value in ( )

(5) 360!: Completed a 360 in any event.

*pretty straight forward, perform a 360, win or lose the race and you will get this. How do I perform a 360 you may ask? Well just lock on the breaks and try to spin around as much as possible, this will be easy to obtain with a faster class car, but is very possible with a class 1*

(5) International Match: participate in any online event.

*again another straight forward achievement, just take part in an online race and when you head back to the main menu you will have this, win or lose it wont matter*

(5) No-Nitrous Victory 1: Complete Basic route 108 with no nitrous

(5) No-Nitrous Victory 2: Complete Advance Route 06 with no nitrous

(5) No-Nitrous Victory 3: Complete Advance Route 15 with no nitrous

(5) No-Nitrous Victory 4: Complete Advance Route 18 with no nitrous

(5) No-Nitrous Victory 5: Complete Special Route 25 with no nitrous

*pretty simple rule, take part in these races when ever you feel come back after completing them with a different car if you want. Then cruise through with no nitrous use on the race at all to earn these achievements*

(7) Reiko's Message #1: Complete Basic Route #11 with an online won car.

(7) Reiko's Message #2: Complete Basic Route #69 with an online won car.

(7) Reiko's Message #3: Complete Special Route #26 with an online car.

(7) Reiko's Message #4: Complete Advanced Route #12 with an online car.

(7) Reiko's Message #5: Complete Final Route #4 with an online won car.

* To do this just stock pile on some online won cars, win or lose it wont matter. Then come back to the World Xplorer and compete in these races with any online won cars to earn these achievements.*

(20) Class 1 Machines Complete: Collect all class 1 machines.

(25) Class 2 Machines Complete: Collect all class 2 machines.

(30) Class 3 Machines Complete: Collect all class 3 machines.

(35) Class 4 Machines Complete: Collect all class 4 machines.

(40) Class Special Machines Complete: Collect all class SP machines.

(85) All Machines Complete: Collected all Machines.

*there is no real easy way to do these; you must collect all the cars in the world Xplorer and through online battles. The Final route contains your last Special class car, win that route to receive the Special Machines Complete, and all Machines Complete Achievements. All others are possible by reaching the midpoints of Master Route, and having all 23 online cars.*

(20) Goal 1 Complete: Completed Basic Route Goal 1.

(15) Goal 2 Complete: Completed Basic Route Goal 2.

(10) Goal 3 Complete: Completed Basic Route Goal 3.

*each of these is earned by beating the track route which leads to all three enedings of the basic route. Which include Race 84, 96, 111. None of which matter which you complete first, just remember that the higher the number race the more challenging it will be. Although this is the basic route you shouldn’t have any problems. See commonly asked questions for info on “how to get past a race your stuck on”*

(5) 15,000 points in mini game: achieved 15,000 points in the pacman mini game.

* This is done in the unlocked version of Pacman(see commonly asked question on how to unlock). This can sometimes be a little challenging. What’s recommended is that you sit near the big dots, wait for the little guys to get really close to you, get the big dot and then go after them, trust me it works and you will build up points quickly. More strategy will apply*

(60) No Crash Victory Single Races: You completed all the Single Races with perfect precision.

*this one is tricky; you must complete all the races, with every car in the Single Race section without hitting another car or bumping into something off road. The only tip I can offer is to do this one separate from the No Nitrous Victory, because the nitrous will be very helpful to avoid those cars. Also remember to look back often, you wouldn’t want to hit the break just to be bumped right?*

(60) No Nitrous Victory Single Races: You completed the Single Races with no Nitrous.

*This is simpler then it sounds, you can’t use any nitrous at all, but have no worries it’s still very simple. Just use a car you know you can handle well. Try to get bumped by opponents as much as possible, and watch the corners. This achievement is time consuming but not difficult if you can hold your own.*

(80) Xploration Complete: Congrats you have completed all 235 races in the world Xplorer.

*not really much to give for a tip here, beat the Final route and she’s yours, just remember to make sure you have the nitrous aid off, otherwise you will have a lot of races to make up and no achievement to show for it.*

(15) 800km/500 Miles Driven: Driven 500 miles.

(20) 1,600km/1,000 Miles Driven: Driven 1,000 miles.

(100) 16,000km/10,000 Miles Driven: Driven 10,000 miles

* these are pretty self explanatory. Just keep driving, doesn’t matter if it’s in the World Xplorer, online, single racer, etc. all of it is calculated together, so enjoy your races online is what I say. *

(20) 50 Online Battle Victories: won 50 online races

(40) 100 Online Victories: won 100 online races

(100) 200 Online Victories: won 200 online races

* Alright simple enough, go online and start winning. For those looking for a quick score, or are just horrible and in need of some easy wins, just create a private room, get a boosting buddy, set the track for Aviator Loop(smallest track), use the fastest machines, use unlimited nitrous, and set it for 1 lap win. Let the boosting begin. As for the skillful players or people who just aren’t looking at the achievements, then no worries, keep playing and you too win get your online victories. *

(20) Eat ‘Em Up: congrats you have beaten the Pac-Man.

* After you have unlocked the mini pacman game, score 15,000 points. Then go into the World Xplorer and win any game (do something simple). After this the Pacman race will open up. Beat the Pacman and you will unlock him and earn the achievement. Easy way for me was to use the Angelus, trust me he’s not that difficult. *

(20) Heavenly Messenger: Congratulations you beat the Angelus.

(20)  Master Exorcist: Congratulations you beat the Crinale.

(30)  Monster Slayer: Congratulations you beat the Monstrous.

*These three are the final obstacles you must over come in the Special Route. Each will have their own challenges. So test the waters, see how they work and what track they are on. Afterwards if you don’t think you can beat them download the Ghost data, to learn some tips. Your racing style may change for these 3 different races. This is all I can offer as it’s your preference of racing that will affect the outcome.*

(50) Final Battle: Complete the Final Route.

*As it says, complete the final route. This is the hardest of all the races you will encounter. So this is where I would highly recommend downloading the ghost data if you haven’t done so already. Your skills will be tested. Building nitrous, not hitting walls, and getting bumped as much as possible is what you must concentrate one. Good luck and congrats for those that do this*

Great FAQ - should have been stickied yonks ago and I'm bumping it for those of us who can use it.
Is not having a signature abject minimalism or simply utter laziness? The truth is out there.

Yeah man it was stickied, that is what happens. Eventually a sticky loses its stickyness haha, so it falls down after a set amount of time.

Re: Ridge Racer 6 F.A.Q.

I just got this game CHEAP from Gamestop (early 2006 release, no wonder lol).  Thanks for the tips and achievement help.  I think I will be refering back to this many, many times.

The only problems:  I found this FAQ Thread back on page 4 or 5...soooooo...BUMP.

The 15k points for Pac-Man requires you to score 15k in the Pac-Man game..which you unlock, not the "demo" at the very beginning of the game.

Yes, the one from the Options menu, that is what i did and here is what i don't get - you need to earn 15,000 points to unlock the pac-man race, beating this race gives you the Eat em Up acheivement (which i have). How is it that i have one acheivement but not the other?

Re: Ridge Racer 6 F.A.Q.
Not sure, give the pac-man game another go and score another 15k. If you do it again and still dont recieve it...then something is wrong beyond and recommendations.

That is bizarre!!!

Like AT said, I would try to get 15K again in the Pac-Man game.  I had to get 15K a few times, too, before the achievement would unlock.  I seem to remember it did not pop up, though, until I exited back to the main menu.

Hahaha Thank You!, that is it, there are a few achievements like this in the game, which require you to back out to the main menu before the achievement will activate.

Re: Ridge Racer 6 F.A.Q.
Thanks for the information mate! Very helpful indeed! But I have a question...

The only achievement I need for this game is 16.000KM/10.000Miles! At this moment in time I've done almost 8000 Miles! Is there any quick way you can build up your mileage to get to 10,000? I've been playing this game for nearly 2 years and I'd like to get 1000G on it by next week hopefully before I go away!

I thought I could easily do the same as DiRt which is stick a Elastic Band around the remote and let the Car drive round in Circles and hopefully that'll build up the miles. But there's no track at all big enough for a car to do a circle! Can you or anyone think of any ideas?

Thanks All

Re: Ridge Racer 6 F.A.Q.
EDIT: OK, I solved my own issue! It turns out for a fact that in Ridge Racer 6, if you're after the 10,000 miles achievement, there is no easy way in getting it! The reason being is because there is no track on Ridge Racer 6 which allows you to do a full circle with rubber bands wrapped around the controllers! So, in the end, I decided to do the driving and earn the achievement, the harder way, which is just do a lot of racing in the Single Races selection, put on unlimited nitrous, and some custom music, and keep on driving!! In the end, I done 1800 miles and got the last achievement for 1000G in under a week! Now I'm a proud owner of 1000G on Ridge Racer 6!!

Thanks All

Bulgy
