Well you can't truly compare Spidey WOS and Prototype. As a matter of fact, if any of these games are like one another, Prototype would be more like spider. Not even taking to account how much older the game is than prototype and Spiderman as a hero in general. But to answer your question they are "somewhat" alike in some ways. Such as Free roam, mission completions, etc. But other than that they are what are. What else

its not at all, i played and owned prototype first so thats what i would compare it to as i have heard they are pretty similar. so what if spider man came out first it dont make a difference for me, games can be like each other no matter how far apart they are released

It has the same mechanics and feel as prototype(oddly enough the same poor camera and bugs too). That was my first impression of it. I actually bought them both on the same day and played them all weekend. If you're a Marvel fan then this game is definitely worth owning.
