Anyone remember this when it came out originally?
I had Jetpac on my Spectrum 48k. Cool game. Also had Lunar Jetman which I never managed to get to grips with.

Yeah, i still have the cassette version of this game somewhere for the Spectrum....i wish Rare would update other Ultimate games like Knight Lore or SabreWulf and id really like to see an update of UnderWurlde, one of the best games in video game history...

Seriously Y0JIM8O, have you played Underwurlde recently?

It has a special place in my gaming history, sure... But it wasn't Ultimate's best. Great idea, huge map, but incredibly frustrating, due to the Jumping "physics", the unpredictable boucing around if you hit anything, and having to travel up those vertical sections on bubbles.

I've been to Sheepy Bassoon and back, and all I got was a lousy isotope.

lol, i'd forgotten about the bubbles etc.

On Knightlore, did it make a difference what character you chose? I could never amek a difference with the serf etc.

Was Attic Attac made by the same people?

The choice of people WAS Atic Atac, and yes it was made by Ultimate.

(Knight Lore was the Isometric 3D Sabreman game)

The choice you made changed what shortcuts you could use through the map. One could walk through the barrels, one the bookcases, etc. Don't ask me who could do what. That I cannot remember.

Betreff: Re: Anyone remember this when it came out originally?

OK, I had a ZX81 but "Jet Pac" on the Spectrum 48 was my first real homecomputer game and I played it for hours and hours. I ordered my copy in the UK and this was not an easy task for a 13 year old from Germany in 1982 without credit card or internet. And of course - after Jet Pac I played every single Ultimate-Play-The-Game Game on the market.

But I'm a little bit shocked how hard the game was. In 1982 I managed to play for hours without losing a life and today I hardly make it to level 6.

It's been two years since this thread started... ;-)

...but for the love of Jet Pac and Speccy - YES! I remember Jet Pac on Speccy very well though my first game was Chequered Flag. Those two for starters with Cookie and PSSSST were great games back then but Jet Pac was my favorite. I still have my Speccy somewhere and for the sake of good ole times I bought recently a mint copy of Speccy Jet Pac from Ebay.

At the time it was fast and smooth action. I recall preferring Jet Pac over Lunar Jetman. Ultimate/Rare kept making better and more complex adventure games, which I liked very much. And when I got Jet Set Willy it was the time to loosen jetpack.

It was the first game i ever played on my brothers spectrum and its always been a favourite of mine. A friend actually had it on a cartridge which was even better, no rtape loading errors with that one!

Hehe, I did not know there were any Speccy Jet Pac cartridges... And the first C-64 cartridges I remember were Jupiter Lander and Wizard of War. And that loading error... Thank you for these both pleasant and painful memories. ;-)
