"Send me to X09 Canada". Let us know why YOU should be there!
X09 is taking place September 29th in Toronto and we'll be inviting a select group of our to community members to attend.  Getting access to X09 this year will be tough, but if you are up to the challenge, you could be selected to be there live and in person to report back on all the Xbox goodness coming this holiday. What are we looking for and how do you have a chance to score your invite?  Read on!

The Xbox Canada team will pick people to attend directly from this forum thread.  What you need to do is convince us why you should be one of the chosen few lucky enough to get an invite to this year’s event.

Some suggested methods to help be considered.

- Become a Fan of Xbox Canada on Facebook
http://www.facebook.com/xboxcanada

- Follow @JadeLive and @JakenBear on Twitter

- Post a link to your best plea, bribe, or whatever you can think of letting us know why you need to be there!  The more people you can tell about your entry, the better chance you will have of being chosen.

Tell your Twitter followers, explain to your Facebook friends why you need to go, or post on your blog or website and explain how you are the perfect candidate for us to entrust with bringing the X’09 event experience to the rest of  Canada.

We want YOU to be our community voice so make it good!

Not only that, but both Jade and I will be in attendance at the show capturing photos, videos, and sharing the event with the rest of Canada.  So get your pitch ready, post your plea, and get noticed Canada!

The past X'0 events were great.  I'm not sure I really want to post to my facebook profile why I want to attend.  I think it's obvious why anyone would want a chance to play new games and hang out with the community.  I'm sure X'09 will be great, but I like the selection process from past events better.

As a Canadian I have attended so many American events such as Penny Arcade past 3 years, CES, VGXPO and spend a lot of time socializing and networking with the American's of Xbox.  This would be an opportunity to network with Canadian Gamers and use my networking skills to help promote Canadian Gamers.

I feel the same way. It would be great to meet the people from the forum and see the new games in advance, but the selection process is a little too much for me. Good luck to anyone that gets selected however.

This year, we have fewer spots for community, but more demand to attend, so we had to find a fair way to figure out who are the most diehard Xbox fans in our community, the ones that REALLY want to go.  The hope is that everyone who attends will help to share pics, video, whatever on everything they see at the event so that those unable to attend feel (in some way) like they were there too.  Hopefully that makes sense and good luck to everyone!

I will pay you (in my best Dr. Evil voice) one hundred thousand dollars to attend this event!

Well in all honestly I do not (currently) possess these funds. So really I have nothing to offer... :( I have been to all the X events so far, so to miss out on this one will make me greatly depressed. So all I can do is beg.

PLEASE!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!! PICK ME!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!  I would so love to attend this event, I hear so much about how great this event is and it would be an honour to be the community voice for you guys.  I don't currently have a twitter account and am not too facebook friendly although I'm trying to pic that up... I would sacrifice anything to be at this event, my job, wife (just kidding honey) to be there.... If you look at my gamerscore it doesn't necessarily reflect my gaming prowess but my games played I can honestly say I own 95% of the titles shown ( the rest have been traded in ) my Xbox is what keeps my sane from a busy life as a father of two... let me speak about the one thing I love more than anything besides my two little girls.... PLEASE!!!!!! PICK ME!!!!! I eat sleep and drink Xbox Live... this is a once in a lifetime event that I shall never forget if chosen... It would be great to meet some of the people from the Xbox community and expand on the ever growing fanbase involved with Xbox Live.... PRETTY PLEASE WITH SUGAR ON TOP!!!!!! PICK ME!!!!!!!!!!

Organizers..  Beware  of two situations

1) Anyone who has confessed that they own a PS3 should be disqualified.  (I of course do not own a PS3)
2) If i dont get an invite, i will dump my stock forcing you all to take a loss on this trading day.

Ahhh...been waiting for this since, well, since X'08!.  Last year I had the privilege of attending with SteveJobs (yes indeed...he did snag that gamertag) and we had a blast.  Out flickr pics from X'08 still grab hits all the time (if you're feeling notsalgic for last year check out http://www.flickr.com/photos/prutschi/sets/72157607767602470/).  I dutifully follow Jade and JakenBear on my twitter (though I maintain my silence since it's  a work-related twitter blog account I'm using...shhhh...I won't tell if you don't) and am an official Fan of the X-Box Facebook page.

Besides, 1/2 of Canada has already been introduced to x-box through my regular Rock Band parties...don't you think the 2nd 1/2 should have the benefit of my X'09 Xpertise?  :)

This would also be the perfect opportunity to model my new Seattle Sounders home jersey.  Why is a Toronto boy sporting a Seattle jersey over our belived TFC?  Hint.  It's the team sponsor...

Well let's see:

- I'll actually talk to a girl at the event.  Probably about Xbox related content.
- I promise to bath before the event.
- I might be required to find Smokes Poutinery after the fact.

Seriously though, for me, X09 would be all about the community and getting to meet members of these forums that I chat with on a daily basis.  You guys really are awesome, and one of the primary reasons the Xbox-platform is so much fun, and it'd be great to meet, chat, and drink with those of you who've I've never met in person before.

I've also long since been a fan of Xbox Canada on Facebook, and of course I have my own blog which is very Xbox-oriented.  http://arbitersjudgement.blogspot.com .

I think you should send me to X09 because I have been a huge Xbox fan since the original Xbox, and I love the community so much, I would love to get involved and meet new people! I think that the Xbox Community is really what keeps Xbox & Live going, the fellowship & friendship that you get with Canadians is excellent, and I think that throwing me into the mix would be a great thing. I would love to get to know everyone within the community of Canadian Gamers! There isnt alot of Xbox-related things going on here in Newfoundland, so I think this would be a great opportunity for me to be involved. Thank you for your consideration. Yours truly, Ghostbust3r J Cheers!

I am uncomfortable with the facebook promoting as well, however, I'll post my shameless plea here without hesitation.

I've attended all the X events since 2006, and it just wouldn't be the same without me.Wink [;)]

I've been on Live since day 1.

I've introduced numerous real world friends to the xbox and Live world through my love and constant talk of video games.

I always shared game reviews, thoughts and photos of the events on both private and open forum boards for other people to to get an idea what the events were like.

I've enjoyed trying the games before release dates, and also talking with the developers.

Meeting other members of the Canadian boards has always been a big plus, we truly have a small but fantastic community here.

....Bribes.....

Well in the past, both Jade's have received wine courtesy of the Short Bus Crew in thanks....This tradition could continue.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've always felt that the X events should not require special promotion or last minute mysterious invites. Events like this should be open to any Canadian forum regular that wants to attend,  simply because we are the true supporters and fans that keep this thing going.

I understand that the cost of the X parties must be enormous, but a massive scale back of the event eliminating food and booze, and a fancy venue would allow more true fan attendees access. The true gamers go for one reason only.....The games!

I've been lucky enough to attend all the X events so far, and I've always been impressed each and every year. If I'm unable to get an invite this year, at least maybe someone who has never been could take my place to experience the event. They would not be disappointed.

MS and the Canadian promotion people know how to throw a party.

Good luck to everyone.

Well, there are several good reasons personally for me to be chosen to go to such a terrific event.

1 - My hairline alone will make anyone else look like a million dollars.
2 - I have no issues groveling, begging, pleading, well, meaning, I have little to no shame at all.
3 - If I have to go completely overboard to seal the deal, I would be willing to get the old 'X' tattooed somewhere on my person, just might not be in time for the event.
4 - Icon et al need someone to laugh at as I frantically fail playing some sort of shooter.
5 - Outside of XCL events, this is the only way I can usually see the gang.

Re: "Send me to X09 Canada". Let us know why YOU should be there!
I don't have my own blog or website, don't use twitter, and barely use facebook for anything non-personal, so I may as well just post why I should be there here.

Unfortunately, I can't become a follower of either twitter accounts since I hate twitter, and deleted the account that I used for like half a second a while ago, but I am a fan of Xbox Canada (Jared Alleyne).

I have been to every X event so far, from X'06 to X'08 and have a signed and framed picture from each (well... except X08 its signed, but not yet framed) drawn my Sinnix/Jeff Jenkins. I love the events, and the community that you get to meet at the events.

One of the biggest things that draw me to the X events, is being able to talk to the people who represent the games. I hope to become a game developer later in life, and me and a friend (Hadoken101, he should be posting here sometime soon because he wants to go too) are planning on starting to make small games with XNA this year.

I have been a part of these forums for about 3 years now, and have owned an xbox/live for around the same amount of time. I am a former ambassador (not exactly sure what happened, might have lost it when lots of others did because of a glitch, or may have just been because of my gamertag change). I may get in arguments a lot, but I generally try to keep them civil, and generally try to help people when I can.

I'm attempting to start writing reviews for games for xboxedge.com (if you're reading this, I know my review is really really late, I've been really busy with school starting though), and spend most of my time at home on my xbox.

I guess thats all I can really say about myself. I eat, sleep, and breath videogames. If there was a way to inject videogames directly into my veins, I probably would.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/d4rkmonkey/sets/72157606881590353/
<-- my pictures from last year, unfortunately I don't have any pictures of the other sinix prints I have signed/framed on my wall. Hopefully My mom (I gave her the gears print to get it framed because she had some other things she had to bring in anyways) can find the print signed by both Cliffy B, and Jeff Jenkins, so that i can have it up on the wall with my other two.

On a side note, personally I don't think that the current selection process is the best idea. First come first serve seems to be the most fair to me. If you want to find the most die hard fans, they'll be the ones checking these forums every 5 minutes to get new information about this event. They'll be the ones messaging those in charge to try and find any new information about it. I understand the need for a good selection process, but I think first come first serve is the most fair way to do it. Either way, I hope I'm selected to come to the event. I have two other friends who really would like to come to this (puffwheatpete, and Hadoken101), and hopefully they'll be posting shortly.

Last thing I can say... I have a fro, and everyone knows you can't say no to the fro!

Topic? What topic?

Re: "Send me to X09 Canada". Let us know why YOU should be there!

X08 to me was like Christmas day for most people. I've had X09 circled on my calendar for almost a year now. I'm more excited for X09 than Christmas or Mstehflakes and I's 8 year anniversary coming up (hopefully she doesn't see this!). One of the fun things last year at X08 was meeting up with community members before the event at University and Queen and heading to the event. I also enjoyed meeting Sinnix and getting a signed poster from him. However the biggest highlight was meeting CliffyB and playing some Gears of War 2 with him.

If I were selected to attend X09 I would be live twittering from the event, I will take 8 gigs worth of photos (maybe I'll need to buy an additional memory card) and most important I'll write up blog entry for www.tehflakes.ca that will include all my thoughts on my hands on time with various games, photos and of course if possible any interviews.

I will put up a new blog post tonight on my blog outlining further why I should including photo's from last years event! Stayed to Tehflakes.ca for more or www.twitter.com/tehflakes

Thanks!

For me X09 is about two things.  First getting a chance to meet the community in person, and second gathering as much information as possible, so I can report back to the folks at the "xbox 360 asylum" (www.xbox360asylum.ca).  I started to post on the forums a little over a year ago, and have since met so many great people because of it. I have read about the other great X0 events and wished I was there.  I think it would be great to check out the new games, and be around people who are as excited as I am about it.  I have also started to use Twitter because of the xbox360 community and have followed both Jake and Jade from the beginning.

Re: "Send me to X09 Canada". Let us know why YOU should be there!

Why KowZ should be at X'09:

It is a well known fact that people love to hate KowZ - and there are good reasons for that.

- In the past he has had the chance of LOSING to JadeLive at the launch of Guitar Hero III - and had the chance to talk about it.

- He has been known to hold competitions, and assist others in promoting them for the entire Canadian Community

- He always tries to push the community harder to be more creative with their contest submissions (showing your hauls doesn't win him over, since anyone could own anything)

- He has taken photos for the community a few times (including some shots for community blogs that couldn't provide their own)

- He asks the right questions, sometimes just to get a knee-jerk reaction as to what the developer really thinks - but lets the developer keep their dignity in the end

- The community that attend would miss him greatly [even though it is a well known fact that he has been mysteriously missing from all Videos and Podcasts from the X'0 events in the past]

- He takes part in the Community Nights in hosting and attending different games

- He owns a baseball cap and matching shirt with his gamertag embroidered on them [his hat also has his twitter address]

- He STILL receives comments about the Fable II launch video that was staged to add a bit of humour to it

- Each room in the apartment has its own Xbox and 32" LCD TV [With the exception of The Forum Troll's room, which has 2 Xboxes and TV's] and there's a matching Rock Band / Guitar Hero kit for each [Even though KowZ REALLY sucks at these games that he's only allowed to sing... solo... so low that you can't hear him]

- During the Halo Wars launch, he worked with Tehflakes, DjDATZ, Keadin and Others to provide the community with a live blog of the event which included Xbox Live Marketplace codes for the Flaming Warthog add-on

- He is always willing to help the community out if they have questions, or need to get in contact with someone about a problem they are having [although he often requires them to call 1-800-4MY-XBOX first]

- He always speaks his mind....

So, there you have it. A bakers dozen reasons as to why he should be chosen for this competition.

And if you need one more?  KowZ is always watching.

I have attened the last two X'0_ events and had some of the best moments of my life (what could be more cool then playing Gears 2 with Cliffy B :p). If I get to go this year it would mean so much to me. If you pick me, you'll be able to put the biggest smile on this boy's face, wouldn't that make you feel good? If altruism isn't your thing, I'll promise to give you the sum of one million dollars in the future when I become a famous game developer lol. I recently got a new camera so I will be able to take a lot of pictures,

Why *should* I get to go?

Well, honestly, I've been staring at this thread since it was posted, (Also playing a lot of Trials HD) and I can't think of any reasons that would make me a better choice than anyone else around here. I can definitely tell you why I *want* to go.

There will be community members there. I'm not talking the newly acquainted 'Twitter buddies' and Facebook pals that've just jumped on the bandwagon because suddenly there's a reason to. That's not the community I'm a part of.

I'm talking the long standing community members that post here, that yuk it up about games and all things Xbox related on a daily basis.

We've all got one thing in common. We love to game and we do so on the 360 and then we talk about it here.

Getting the chance to have a beer (Or 10) and talk in person with some of these people, (and DEVS! That's so COOL!) especially at an event that is fueled by upcoming video games is something that I would LOVE to be a part of.

That's all I've got!

Re: "Send me to X09 Canada". Let us know why YOU should be there!
Hmm, there are so many reasons.  Perhaps I'll narrow it down to the top 10:

Normal 0

10.  Since getting out of prison, I’ve had a hard time socializing with people.  Xbox Live has given me new insight into how to carry on a civil conversation with other human beings.  I’d like to meet some of them in person.

9.  I once help Bill Gates out of his locker at school.  He kept muttering something under his breath.  The only two words I could make out were “revenge” and “microtransactions”.

8.  I still have flashbacks from playing the original GOW every night for a year.  The last one occurred in the grocery store, when I tossed my wife into the cart and barrelled into a stack of canned peaches while screaming “WRETCHES!!!”

7.  I only glitch after I’ve been glitched.  An eye for an eye, you know.  You’ll find this in the scriptures of NSJ.

6.  I once composed a rap version of Neil Young’s “My My Hey Hey” and would happily sing it into your ear for the duration of a deathmatch round of Halo 3.

5.  I actually went to confession after putting Avatar into my console for a full 2 minutes.  It was kind of like taking a funny blue pill at a party, just to see what happens.  Oh, the shame…

4.  I have a pet hog named Master Chief.  I’m serious.  If you want, I can post a picture of my hog.  He’s a really great pet.

3.  I perform an assortment of voodoo rituals on my PS3 every day, ensuring that Sony does not reclaim its crown in the gaming world.

2.  I once borrowed a generator from a friend in order to play Dead Rising’s “overtime” mode, in case I lost my progress due to a power glitch.  I ask you, how many people do you know with that kind of gaming dedication?

1.  Although I love and spend far too much of my money on games, I mostly suck at them.  This means that all of you will feel better about yourselves just by having me around.

Seriously though, I’m too busy to travel to the COTU for an event like this, but I hope it all goes well and the “chosen” have a good time.

Let's show them our hearts, then let's show them theirs...
