How on earth do you get the kid to use the ladder?  It has been a VERY long time since I played this and I can't figure it out.  Thanks in advance for the help!  :)

I think you can just call the kid to follow you and if he is near the ladder, he should auto use it. Or just click on the kid, and click next to you.
