Steering sensitivity and oversteer, please read!

There is now a 2nd fix for the sensitive steering/oversteer problem this game exhibits in its default settings.  And let me tell you it is a NIGHT and DAY difference.
Please use 2nd fix along with the original thread suggestions on turning down sensitivity in the control options.

I have posted the original sensitivity config here:

Steering Dead Zone-15%
Accel Dead Zone-10%
Brake Dead Zone-10%
Steering sensitivity-5%
Acell Sensitivity -5%
Brake sensitivity-5%
Speed steering Sensitivity 100%

On to the 2nd fix:

At the main menu enter CAR GARAGE----> TUNING,  press 'Y' to enter quick tuning mode.
Under the heading 'balance' move the slider all the way to OVERSTEER.  That's right  oversteer.  Apparently the developer labeled this slider wrong or its a glitch.  Turning the slider to oversteer will actually add understeer.

Now go drive.  as you can see the cars are now more comparible to the feeling of Forza2 and RacePro.  It may not be as good but it is now close!   There was a sim hidden somewhere in all this mess and I may have to take back some to the nasty things I said beforehand :)

(Special thanks to Torque Spike for finding this on the EA forums!)

The sensitivity settings are for the controller...but... the 2nd fix posted should help tremendously with the wheel also.  The 2nd fix is only addressing the games default oversteer problem. :)

This really needs a sticky...because it is all legit.  How do you get a mod to sticky a post?

Hilariously, this seems like it's actually for real.  I am using the MS wheel, and have just been running laps on Spa in an Elise for the past hour or so until I read this.  The car just had no grip whatsoever (particularly ridiculous since it's a Lotus).  I made this adjustment and, seriously, the game suddenly feels MUCH more like Race Pro.

I use high sensitivity settings for everything with the wheel, and even so this feels fantastic. I actually feel like I am carving a line through the corners rather than sliding through and hoping for the best.  Bizarre!

Someone at Slight Mad studios must of been smokin crack rock the day before the game went gold!  It's unbelievable the condition the control settings were in out of the box.

Yeah these settings are just perfect for me. Much much much better. I didn't think I'd ever get the settings to my liking. Buddy, this thread made me feel a whole lot better about that $60 transaction. The game is sooooooo much better now! They should release a patch that changes these settings to default.

For this to be stickied, you have to be more clear with your instructions for the tuning. I've been getting messages about what to do because people are confused as to what you are talking about.

Atleast in the original. The 2nd fix is pretty clear.

Seeing as how the edit feature is time controlled (which is ridiculous) I have to double post.

All of the doubters out there thinking "Hey, something this simple cannot change the game that much." It does.

Coming from me who was all over the leaderboards in Undercover can vouch for the legitimacy of the tuning advice.

Do it and maybe we will see less BS in those threads that are created to just complain about the game.

Also for the dorifto fans out there..Drifting is now hell of a lot easier. I had a hang of it even before reading the advice and now it's that much of a difference.

my .02¢? these tips are the good. use them.

using "quantum singularity" doesn't make you clever - just unnecessarily polysyllabic.

but the 2nd tip will only work for cars in your garage, right? you can't tune the cars supplied in the manufacturer races can you?

These changes made a HUGE difference.  The car handles so much better, it feels like a different game.  To anyone that wants better handling, do yourself a favor... try these settings!

Thanks for the post!  Yes, this one needs to be a sticky for sure.

Was this game EVER play tested by the developer? It's hard to imagine that it was, but thanks for the tips maybe now I can stop contemplating trading it so soon.

The fact that so many people in the MW2 threads are co-signing for BFBC2 makes me think they're insecure about something.

I'll try the 2nd part of the fix later, the 1st part certainly made a big improvement.

Can you save the settings from the 2nd part of the fix or do you need to change these each time you race?

Cheers for this mate, hope you didn't mind but I've added these details to the UK general xbox forum aswell (with credit to yourself)

I think the more people that know and enjoy the game because of it the better.

I think I just achieved the same result in the "advance/expert" (forgot what it's labeled) tuning menu by simply inverting the front and rear sway bar values. The cars are very controllable now.

The change has to be made for each and every car in your garage just once.  When you exit the garage the game autosaves that vehicles setup.

That's right only cars in the garage can be tuned.  With the manufacture races we are out of luck.  Also, if you race online you must use cars from your garage for this to work.
