I unfortunately had to swap out my Xbox 360 today for another one. I kept my hard drive and attached it to the new console. Unfortunately by doing so, this has completely screwed up my Final Fantasy XI installation.
So here I am, now re-installing PlayOnline and Final Fantasy XI again. Also, it's no longer 'installed' to the Hard Drive. I'm guessing I'm about to experience the fun of re-installing everything and updating every couple days again.
I'm about ready to burn the game disc and throw my Xbox 360 out my window (oh, and cancel both my FFXI and Xbox Live membership too)!
FIX THIS ALREADY.
Are you guys even talking about the same thing here?
XAdderalx - you problem is you changed out your xbox. Ever since the NXE update (the 360 dashboard update) you can't move one HD to the other and have FFXI still work. Found this out when a friend brought over his HD to play at my house just after the NXE update ....found it out again when I got RRoD and moved HD to backup box ...yay for 5 hour installs!
The rest of you - Seriously WTF are you talking about? You can power off your xbox or hit the button to go to the dashboard while playing ffxi or playonline viewer and your game will work just fine the next time you play it. It will tell you that you shouldn't do that ...and if you made any changes to your macros, they are gone. Are you guys really having a problem after power off improperly or are you doing something else afterwards ....like....
Are you guys going in and clearing your cache on your xbox? If so, stop it! FFXI had a message up for over a month saying don't clear your xbox 360 cache ...it will mess with the FFXI install. Try just running your game like normal.
If you are having a problem ...I'm sorry and that really sucks. I know I power down improperly at least once a week and I've NEVER had this issue ....only time I've ever had to reinstall was when changing out the xbox and that was only have NXE update.
I see dumb people
